  The layout on mobile is still pretty bad. It seems that there is no way to change the currency grom USD to AUD so i assume i will be paying in ISD and possibly copping the surcharge if not using a 28deg card etc..

  The prices are certainly not overly special (I was focussed on Bali).

  Hi Andoes,

  I agree, our mobile could be improved and our tech team is currently working on a mobile app. To find the best deal you may have to scroll down as there may be duplicate hotel listings from different suppliers at lower rates. Or filter by typing in the name of the hotel in the sidebar to see all the rates for that hotel. The duplicate hotels will be fixed in a few weeks. We have over 80 suppliers with various room types to filter which has been quite a task for our tech team, and they're almost done.

  Per the currency, currently we can only bill in $USD, Last year we tried showing the rates in AUD but the members credit card were charged in USD and they did not like that, so we kept everything in USD until we can fix the currency for every country.

  You will find greater saving at 4 and 5 star hotels booked more than 10 days in advance. 3 star hotels in a short booking window will have less savings, but the savings can add up.

  I took the time to compare prices on this mobs site vs my regular meta search channels. The prices are NOTHING special. Not even close. They appear entirely reliant on you contacting them for a better deal 'offline'.
  My time is far more valuable than that. I will always give my business to the agency who displays best pricing up front. No gimmicks like 'but we'll take another $10 a night off if you contact us to make the booking".
  This entire business seems reliant on a legal loophole which can and will eventually be closed, courtesy of businesses that think they're too clever by half.

The reason why we can't provide our rates to the public is because we offer wholesale rates which are not available to the public, this is why members have to join to view the rates. We also made our membership "risk-free to try" with no credit card required to join and the membership does not auto-bill or auto renew. If for any reason you are not satisfied you may cancel at anytime.

  I agree, Travel Agencies are great choice for busy travelers who do not have the time to book their own travels, and we proudly provide various travel agents access to our global wholesale hotel database to pass any savings they find on to their customers.

    He isn't complaining about the need to sign up, he is talking about how your 'wholesale rates' for people who sign up are nothing special. This is true, your site is nowhere near as cheap as any other site. Just because you have a membership doesn't make the prices good.

    He never said anything about travel agencies being a great choice for busy travelers. He is obviously talking about OTAs as well where you book yourself. I think you are purposely ignoring his points.

    And how will you save money on every booking? The only way is that your price is never the cheapest (you have to use a price match). Even then, a saving of $25 on a 5 star hotel is nothing when other websites offer rewards and cashback even greater than that without the need to go through a silly process

    Honestly to survive, you have to be competitive. people know when you are lying or exaggerating, especially on OzB. I really haven't seen any hotels that are cheaper on this site than other OTAs, on release or now.

    And using PR to ignore someones comments and twist it around doesn't work on OzB either.

    The entire idea of a paid membership is a gimmick. The membership is always free. The prices are nothing special. I remember a year ago you got articles on certain popular sites. I doubt they will want to work with you again after seeing that you never offer actual deals except for spam.

    And to the people who say its 'cheaper', have you guys actually clicked through to the booking page and seen the taxes/booking fee? E.g. when pointhacks first advertised the wholesale rates were cheaper , he never actually gave the name and proof of any of the hotels. I would like to see the FINAL price of any hotel as well as the benefits included and the cancellation policy to see if there are actually any deals….

  If you book a minimum 10 days in advance you will always save money on EVERY BOOKING!!!! No loop holes, no gimmicks, just a tremendous value with a high level of personalized service.

  I admit this site is not particularly user-friendly, but I was able to find some good deals earlier in the year for Las Vegas and Asia. It does take some monitoring of prices though, to snag those awesome deals. This involves booking and re-booking cheaper rates as they come along. This obviously opens up some FX rate risk, which may or may not work in your favour.

  Now that the price guarantee beats other sites with non-refundable rates, I think this might be the way to go (though haven't tried yet). I know they don't beat rates when used with coupon codes, but I'm unsure about prices that show when you are logged-in to your account. Should work in theory since it is easily accessible.

  The other feature I like is that you can buy e-gift card from $500 amounts and get a 10% discount. Yeah you would lock up your money in there, but it's a good way to lock in the USD rate. Obviously you want to use FX fee-free card. Again I haven't tried this yet and I'm not sure if it's available all the time.

  The free booking credits promotions are kind of annoying due to FX rate risk and potential FX fees. During some promotions you can book rooms worth $300 for example and then you email them and they credit back $50. If you later cancel the room they would refund the original USD amount minus the booking credit they gave you. The first time caused me an issue as they changed payment gateways and asked me to request a chargeback. The other times were processed fine. I think I'm still out of pocket with the first refund, as amex didn't properly refund me the fx fee due to the convoluted process. I would much prefer an upfront % discount or $ per night discount.

  The site still has a long way to improve though, before the mainstream folks will be tempted to pay for a membership.
