Is $53 the 'new' price for the Home mini? Certainly feels like it.

    • +18

No, $53 is the delivery price for 14 exercise books.

    • Yes, I think $45 is possible before Christmas or on boxing day.

      Kind regards

      • How do I short Google home mini pricing?

        • +5

Well, use the eBay from China method. Sell the items on eBay as original and new. List the location as Darwin Australia. You've probably got about 4 weeks before the PayPal claims come in. If you're gamble is correct you can profit all the difference.

Write back here to tell us about your Broden level profits.

    • The real current price is USD$29.99, and the Home is USD$79.

Mini is sort of OK, in that you are only paying an extra $5 for the Australia tax.

    Nice, thanks.

At this rate, I'll have one per room and a couple for the garage by Christmas.

Is this any good? I thought it was just designed for Google to track us.

    • I have mine connected to a Pi3 with Home assistant. Mix of glorified doorbell, weather announcer and reminder at the moment.
hey google add a reminder for washing in 1 and half hours.
can be easily added as a speaker for home assistant.

      • Eh, that's pretty good for $50, to be fair.

      • What is the deal with needing a network certificate for Google to talk to HA?

        • Your HA needs to be addressable from the google server.

Going the other way is easy. Define in HA as a media player.

          using xiaomi sensonrs
          - alias: Front door open
          trigger:
          platform: state
          entity_id: binary_sensor.door_window_sensor_xxxxx
          to: 'on'
          action:
          - service: homeassistant.turn_on
          entity_id: light.gateway_light_xxxxxxxx
          data:
          color_name: crimson
          - service: tts.google_say
          entity_id: media_player.living_room_speaker
          data:
message: 'The front door has been opened'

Still to change to track mobiles, so if it recently connected, and the door opended, the massage
All hail the master of the house has arrived. Line up to receive his blessing..

We got one this week through a woolworths point promotion. I think the offer was one of these or $40 of points for spending a couple of hundred bucks over a couple of weeks (which we would normally do anyway) so net cost to us was $40.

It is keeping me and my 11 year old daughter entertained. Not sure how long it will last. Weather and jokes are its specialty at the moment. Why did Adele cross the road. Because she wanted to say hello from the other side.

Ask it to play a trivia game. There's a mix of easy and harder questions all multiple choice, should be fun for both of you.

Thanks for the exercise book, I need to lose weight.

  • I went to Office works at Pitt St, Sydney without calling (it was on my way home), apparently they are out of stock atm. They said I could order on the counter or online but wanted one for a birthday gift tomorrow :'(

    • +2

Get it from jbhifi under Tgv. They'll price match it.

      • Didn't know they priced matched as well. Thanks! Will try that ..

        • +2

apparently ONLY if you can walk into the other store and buy it at that price. Tried this with the TGG ebay deal and they said no.

        • @paulojr:
I didn't encounter any issues getting them to price match Harvey Norman. So it's not limited to just the store across the street.

        • @cheapbloke: Harvey Norman is a store across the street. Unless they also do ebay deals?

  • What is the audio quality like on these? eg. for streaming radio etc.

    • +5

It's like listening to a potato

      • +1

        mashed or fried?

        • +3

          Both

      • +2

Maybe that's why they're getting as cheap as chips

      • It's not a bad potato. I've heard worse. Pity there's no audio out port.

    • +2

It's fine for streaming radio. It sounds okay.

  • Surely its cheaper through harvey norman shipped with free shipster for 2 months?

  • 14 exercise books? But I am trying to go paperless…

    • When you get them just scan them in and then recycle them.

  • Please don't buy cheap exercise books such as this for your kids to use at school. The paper is wafer-thin and ink bleeds through. The result is very messy and doesn't encourage them to take pride in presenting neat work.

You can also donate $2 to the smith family to qualify for free shipping.
