  • I have one of these, its awesome.

Edit. Actually no I dont. I have a proper cordless dremel multitool, this seems like just a glorified screwdriver.

    • good to hear.. i'll grab one

    • I bought this for around $100, so when I saw this special, don't you think I was spewing!! These are great little devices, with heaps of power and the battery never seems to go flat. Also great for more delicate jobs like building PCs.

    • I got the Dremel Multi tool thingy.. love it. But dont see the need for this driver. How many times are you going to need to drill little holes in tight spaces? Maybe if you work on scale models or something?

  • is this better then the Bosch?

    • I think they are on-par with the iXo's. I have read that the bosch's sometimes have trigger issues. I have also read that users who had the original Dremel 7.2 lion driver got free replacements after 3 years when they started having issues.

I just got one. Good price (although Dremel is expensive in comparison)

    • cool, been thinking about this or the bosch. just ordered.

      • What about a vote? Cheers mate.

  • Had a quick browse though on my phone and despite the brand name, didn't see anything about it being capable/powerful enough to be used as a rotary dremel. Can anyone shed any light on this?

EDIT: 300rpm doesn't seem to be fast enough to be useful for 'dremeling' afik.

    • Its a "Dremel Driver compact cordless screwdriver". Its a lazymans screwdriver made by Dremel.

It's not the dremel high speed rotary tool eg: upto 35,000rpms.

  • +1

Folks, I think Dremel is just the brand name - the description in that listing doesn't say anything about it being a Dremel tool. Also a Dremel tool needs at least 3000RPM to get anything done!

In short, this is actually a "compact cordless screwdriver", made by the Dremel company.

    • +1

I would've thought most people understand its cordless driver, not a high speed rotary tool, but could be wrong.

"The Dremel Driver compact cordless screwdriver"

      • Just call me an idiot then already! :P

To be honest I read the title and thought "Oh wow, a Dremel tool for $49!" and skipped excitedly to the comments. But oh well…

        • Me too.

I have the proper cordless dremel 30,000rpm jobbie. it wasn't until I went to buy this one (as a spare) that I saw it was only a screwdriver. Didn't even know dremel made screwdrivers.

  • how can I be sure that this product is really worth over $100? I cant find a similar item priced anywhere else and is this really worth $50?

    • try bunnings - i've seen them there. but can't remember price.
