        • ok got it about vouchers, but not sure about referral because if possible i want 2 numbers under 1 account.

and if i buy 365 days sim means the original account has no use of the $10 off since i need to use it within 3 months?

        • @dragonindespair:
That’s right unless you buy another voucher with the original account (or spend $35 on something else). I’ve got $10 sitting on my original one for now.

        • Hi fozzie
Do you mean we buy one of this Kogan voucher from ebay then we use this voucher to pay for kogan mobile 365 days prepaid? thanks!

        • @angelbaby: yeah baby you are right!

        • @angelbaby:
          thanks! bought one of this.

Literally entered the code for my 16gb 365 day voucher this morning thinking maybe I should of went with 11gb and now I have 23gb? Goodbye wifi :)

  • That's what I'm talking bout! It was about time.
Can't wait til they upgrade to 3GB, which is where it should be.

  • The recent iPhone 8 64GB Optus deal worked out to be $51/month for two yrs (with 20 GB data plan AND 150 international minutes) after $200 EFTPOS gift card from Harvey Norman. Even if you apply discounted price for the phone, the plan still works out to be cheaper than Kogan. Not sure how you think Kogan deal is better! And, you could always sell your unlocked iPhone 8 at near market value which made it even sweeter.

    • Not everyone needs a new phone/Iphone. For light users Kogan is the best option. If you need the higher plan Optus will be better, IF you need a new phone.

    • Agreed good deal but then need to get rid of iphone if that’s not what you want and ensure you don’t go over on your data. If you just used the extra 3gb to bring it up to Kogan then you’d pay extra $720 over the contract. The way Kogan is throwing data at current users after the next 12 months these plans will likely way out do Optus 20gb.

  • Once you are on any of these annual plans, is there a way to upgrade to the next plan by paying additional difference at all?

    • The way Kogan has been for me when I've been starting to want more data they throw it in free of charge - this is the second time in 9 months.

  • When will this deal expire OR are these the normal prices for the plans from now onward?

    • Not normal price, however these offers keep coming back. I think this specific deal expires 31/1 but you can activate until 28/2

  • The cheapest prepaid price for 30 days is pretty disappointing. Luckily there are still alternatives for light users that don't need more data or want to commit to long-term deals to save a few dollars.

    • I agree the 1 month deals suck.

  • My current Large plan goes until 3/2018. What happens If I buy this now and recharge 2/2018 as per the T&C's?

    • +2

I read somwhere on ozb that these dont stack up and will void your existing plan. However, if you call Kogan and explain the situation, they will refund the remaining prorated amount from your previous plan and you can then use the new one.

Call customer care and they will help

  • Are Kogan th best for value?
Don’t need a handset, just 10GB plus data and some calls.

    • If you get one of the 365 day plans they are definitely the best for value.

      • Thanks. Now I just have to test out their reception in the Sydney West area.

  • 1) If I am on a yearly prepaid plan, can I port out for a while and port back in under the same plan? I am curious because Kogan doesn't have international roaming and I might need some other provider's plan for a couple of weeks which has intl roaming feature.

    2) Do we receive sms on Kogan when traveling abroad?

    3) I there a way one can buy intl roaming feature on Kogan as an add on?

      1. dunno call them
      2. no. no roaming. full stop
      3. no. you can buy intl add on. means you can call intl from australia but when you are abroad, basically number is dead. full stop

Might not be the best for everyone, but the "Small" plan works well for my kids. $12.68 per month for unlimited calls/text, decent coverage for where we are, and now more than enough data (given they are on wifi most of the time). If however they use up the data allowance the mobile will still work for calls/text and I don't see a big bill due to data being 'automatically topped up'. Brother in law had his son on a plan that ended up costing many hundreds of dollars after the kid went way over the data allowance two months in a row. Would be nice if it supported streaming music services but have Google Play music and the kids can just download their favourites to the mobile whilst on wifi.

    • it cant support say a spotify app??

      • It technically supports it, and any other streaming service, but I meant it will use up the data allowance fairly quickly. Some providers provide 'fee' access to certain streaming services. For example Telstra I think support Apple music, and Optus support Google Play music. Vodafone supports spotify on certain plans, but there is no mention of it on Kogan so have to assume it's not included.

        • ah right. well there is always the option of spotify premium i guess but it isnt free. $11.99 per month but there's premium for students at $5.99 per month if that appeals

  • Hey, I'm on Telstra prepaid. I'm considering switching.

Anyone got anything to say on the service?

Has anyone made a similar move, how was it?

    • I switched to Kogan a year ago from Telstra. No regrets.

  • I dont get it, already upgraded months ago from 1.5 to 2gb and get email today telling me it was upgraded… wut

    • umm you sure you're not mixing that up with the 1gb plan being upgraded to 1.5gb?

      • That 1 to 1.5 was even longer back. Ive been on 2 gig for a few months. Im on the cheapest 365 deal, was like 70% off or something at the time when i bought.

        • That 1 to 1.5 was even longer back.

          It was in Sep though?

@CVonC: ok my bad, I checked back through my kogan messages and that bonus in October confused me, I though that was a perm upgrade to 2 gig back then, hence my original post. XD

  • There is something peculiar happening with my Kogan account. I'm on the small plan, and the other day I checked and still had 1.73GB left, so I watched a Netflix show and checked after it see I then had 2.33 GB left. Not complaining, but wondering.

  • No one has mentioned in the comments what happens after the 90 day or 365 days expires???

    • +2

What? You buy credit for xx days therefore before expiry top up or port out… What do you expect? Explodes? You get xxx days to receive calls or sms, and then xxx days till number deactivated.

Currently 15% off Kogan cards at ebay, so plans will cost even less!

    • yeah… keep rubbing salt to my wound….2 wounds actually.

      • What did you get in the end? I will soon have another kid and myself on Kogan… Couldn't resist these cheap plans.

        • medium and large. with that 15% giftcards i could save like $30-40 i think. damn. that is ALOT of dough

        • @dragonindespair:
I also bought already a medium. I need to buy one more for my kid and one for husband.

        • @fozzie: i wanted to port in 2 at the same time (easy to remember the expiry date etc) so last night dont know why, i pressed the buy buttons… :(

        • +1

@dragonindespair: If of any consolation I bought a small plan just over a month ago with "only" $20 off and then recently a medium with $60 off (but paid $9 for voucher). The last two I just bought via vouchers and money off. Very happy overall as now all family has one year mobile all for the cost of approximately $516 or thereabout :) Just over $43 a month for 2 small plans, 1 medium and 1 Large.

        • @fozzie: true. Good value. This is now become new standard. 15gb for around $20!
          Can't imagine 6 months ago I'm paying $29 for 5.5gb

        • @dragonindespair: lol. Yes I was paying $30 with Telstra! Mind you I’d get free Netflix , however the internet value was very low and I struggled to get get till the end of the month!! No more worries with Kogan.

Skype calling cards @ 40% off in Woolies from 20/12. International calls on Kogan plans sorted. Very happy abt the timing.

    • Have you tried Voipbuster? They are very cheap, depending on the destination you call. Also Line or WeChat they are very cheap

      • Cheaper than 40% off on Skype? Never tried. Line and WeChat aren't for VoIP calls though.. they are more like Whatsapp.. aren't they?

        • They are also for voip. Line charges about 1c a minute to call most of Europe. Voipbuster gives 3 months free calls when you top up to selected countries (I used to spend $12 every 4 months and using more than 300 minutes a week. I don't voip anymore, so I haven't used in a while but they were cheaper than skype

        • @fozzie:

I need to call the US and India.

  • Did anyone receive Kogan SIM yet? I am still waiting though it says dispatched on 13th Dec.

    • I never got mine that I ordered on the 4th lol.

      • Damn.. is it going to take that long?

        • No idea. I think mine was lost (or maybe never sent who knows). They sent me another one on the 15th which probably won't get here til the end of the week.

if you don't need net then go with Amaysims $10 for 28 days…

    • Why not Moose mobile for $8?

      • unlimited calls would be great…i few people who doesn't need net at all but important factor is Unlimited mobile+local/national+txt.

    • I have the opposite problem, I need the net but don't need the calls. Can anyone point me to the right provider/deal?

  • Is there anyway I can switch from 365 days "M" plan to "L" by paying the difference? it'd be roughly $50

    • Did you get an answer on this? I'd like to know if this is possible too. If I buy the small/365 day plan, and 3 months later I need more than the 2Gb data, can I upgrade to the medium/6GB plan and pay the difference for the remaining 9 months?

  • Horrible coverage. My wife regrets jumping over from Telstra. What's the point of cheap data when you cannot use it?

    • Definately worse coverage (voice and data) than Telstra but 16gb for about $18 per month that's the trade off so I can't really complain.

  • Many people don't think choosing mobile providers is just like picking a partner. It's all depends on your phone, where you live, work, places you like to go, etc.

  • So I ordered a sim for the 23gig a month or whatever it was last month, but I never received it. It has been ~4 weeks now, pretty sure that particular bargain has expired…. what should I do?

  • Anyone know how the coverage is around the bottom of the hills in Perth, im in Kelmscott and drive to Forrestfield a fair bit. Thanks
