Now this is a crazy price for a high spec'd Android TV Box.

3GB RAM
32GB Storage
Amlogic S912 processor

This won't last long and I can almost guarantee that this price won't come back anytime soon because apparently it's promotional price and below sellers cost price.

FAQ

It's showing me higher AUD price than mentioned in the title
* Choose USD as your currency from top left hand corner. Don't select AUD, always choose to pay in USD, it will work out cheaper even after your credit card conversion fees. Also read the below.

How do I ensure I get the cheapest AUD price possible
* To avoid higher currency conversion rates and to get cheapest price from these Chinese websites, you should get a credit card that charges zero currency conversion fees. 28Degrees, Bankwest Zero, Coles Mastercard are generally popular. Irrespective of what credit card you use, always choose to pay in USD on these Chinese websites, (Choose "USD" from top left hand corner). Additionally set your Paypal so it "bills you in the currency on Seller's Invoice". To set your PayPal account this way permanently, follow the steps shown in these snapshots [Highly recommended]

  • Is there a 6gb version?

  • decent enough box however if you want to install a different OS on there, there are no fbdev libs for S912, so basically its useless unless you wanna just run android on it

  • But does it run LibreELEC?

    • no drivers for hardware acceleration of the GPU, so no

      • Yeh I think 905x is still way to go for a budget box. Harder to find at the right price these days though, everything seems to be 905w. Don't know how well that's supported if at all.

      • there's a generic libreelec s912 build but i don't know how well it works

Wow what an amazing price so cheap! I have one of this (paid around $50 us) and a mi box. Runs most of the apps really well. Only shame is that it doesn’t run Netflix HD, so I still use the Telstra box to have that. Very fast and smooth, the remote that came with not the best but I use a Bluetooth remote.

That suggested method to force PayPal to use credit card currency conversion rate does not always work, as per comments on that link, and my own experience. And for a long time, despite any conversion option you selected they still applied their outrageous xe rate.

    • musk F@#k PayPal, I've been suspected it's the case

      • Somewhat of a solution us setting a card to be billed in only one currency, such as US$, and you may need to call them for this.

        • You clearly haven't followed the instructions in the description, have you? Have you seen instructions shown in the snapshots?

        • @batrarobin:done all the instructions, and so have truckloads of other people. There's threads on whirlpool about this exact issue. For like a year pp illegally scraped pips off currency conversion rates and did not honour the currency billing agreement people had. Best result was they may give you $20 for your hassle for pointing out they had a highly profitable technical issue, which they acknowledged but would not fix for over a year.only solution was to phone them to set a card in one particular currency such as US$.

People reporting this rort of illegal pip skimming to ACCC and FOS.

        • @chyawala: oh ok, never had any such issues myself because previously PayPal had the option to select "Other Currency Conversion Options" on their last page of the Checkout process which worked everytime for me.
