  • nooo, too slow and missed this..

  • +2

Not sure if it will or anymore, but you can still locate the "get your car" page via Google cache, and still submit the form (I just did and it gave me the success message: "You will soon receive your radio-controlled mini-Hummer. Thank you for your interest."). Here's the cache link (if it doesn't work, just search for "http://www.atlascopco.com/rcs/getyourcar/" on Google):

    http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:yDpyEuO…

It appears they deleted the link and the form, but forgot to delete the form processing page. I doubt I will get the RC car, but who know!

    • Damn, they fixed the form on me :(

"A problem occurred while capturing your information.
      Please try again later.
We are sorry for this inconvenience!"

      Oh well.

      • I just submitted another one (dummy submission), and it's still working. I'm using Chrome browser by the way, if that helps. Also, the problem may be the Captcha code, so just click on "Generate new words" to refresh it to see if it helps.

Probably not worth the trouble though :)

      • Hi Thanks for the deal and web cache details. Just now I was able to complete the submit. Hope I'll get it.

    • This is exactly I did and it worked. I'm not sure they have got my info or not but let's try. I have guarantee by 2 pictures.

      This is the form

      My request has been submitted!

  • I was doing it on thin client at work so maybe the captcha wasnt working due to flash?!?

Was there 2 words as I was just making words up but still getting confirmation message.

    • javascript i think.

yep 2 words, alot of the time one of the words isnt (a proper word) english

      • Yep, and once you reload the page after even allowing the script you've still gotta press the "Generate" button to see them! ;)

  • +1

Even if I dont get my Hummer this was fun.

  • Looks like I got in just in time (well hopefully anyway)

  • Mining monthly mag's advertising sales are gonna go thru the roof from this one! :)

  • can't wait for my hummer. great post.

  • not working now

  • anyone received their Hummer yet?

    • +1

not yet, but with 4000 click thrus from here alone im not holding my breath.

      • +3

like I said NO DICE FOLKS - hot off the press - not sure what website they referring to though :P

"Underestimating the power of social media

To our shock our RCS campaign recently and suddenly received a massive and overwhelming response. False campaign codes were published and advertised on the website www.ozbargains.com.au. Initially we sent out a few remote controlled cars to enquiries generated through this site without checking but, when 1000s of responses came in we had to take action.

Genuine codes were sent out to our customers and potential customers. We hope you can appreciate that we cannot send out thousands of remote controlled cars and we are sorry that we cannot accept any other codes than those of genuine origin.

We are sorry to inform you that you will not be receiving the radio controlled car. As a small token, your email has been placed in a draw for one of five model Pit Viper drill rigs and five model ST14 underground loaders which are collectors pieces.

When you filled in your questionnaire you may have provided your contact details, please be assured that we will not be using or keeping your details on file.

We apologise for any inconvenience and any ambiguity on our website.

        Regards,

        Sue Goc
        RCS Campaign Manager
Atlas Copco Construction and Mining Australia"

        • got that too

        • Just read same email then!

        • ooops :)

  • Oh well, thats probably fair enough.

  • haha just got the same email - oh well :P lol when I got the email (the power of ozbargains :D )

  • I didn't get that email…does that mean I am getting one? o.0 hope so

  • I got the email aswell I really wanted the remote control car

  • +2

Wasted my time. So much for big corporation with deep pocket. The fact is they may cheat you but not the other way around :(

  • This just came throught the email today guys. Looks like bad news.

    Email:As above

Sorry for the duplicate, didn't read the top.

  • Anyone know the Genuine codes for it? Just curious.

    • Well.. in reality there are no "genuine codes" . The way i came across it and posted it, was seeing it in Mining monthly Magazine. A full page ad, where it mentioned, " fill details and claim your free hummer!" Did it, received my hummer and then went on to post it :)(Never had any codes..)
If they can put an ad in the mag, wouldn't they expect atleast a 1000 to respond??.

Well, An awesome first post for me, bringing an entire ad campaign down to their knees :)

Next stop.. some other big wig mining companies throwing away their stuff " cautiously"

      Stay tuned ;)

  • CRAP! Time to boycott them :)

  • +7

Yeap I will never buy an oil rig from the aformentioned company again!

    • they are in many more products besides oil rigs, large air compressors, AHU,…don't forget to add them to the boycott list. Oh, and do ask ur engineering friends to stay away from them too, we need to spread the words about their cheating :)

  • +1

    wikileaks their ass!

  • It's not a good corporate practice as a market leader.

  • +1

lol at people thinking they would actually get it. I think 90% of us knew we wouldn't ;)

My cousin got a similar one of these (RC Hummer) for one of our nephews and I think they retail for around $150.
So say these guys can get them for $100. With 4000 people trying to get it, you think ANY company would spend $400,000 on sending out gifts to people who have no connection to the mining or oil industries.

Unless your name was Andrew Forrest, none of us were going to get near a free RC car.

BTW, from the tone of the email, it seems like some people will receive the hummers (lucky bastards) - pls let us know what they are like
