This may have limited usability for 4k content (i.e. 4k bluray players, PS4 Pro, Xbox One X) as most devices will require HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2. Most 4k devices will likely not be compatible with HDMI 1.3 that this device is limited to. YMMV

  • Any discounts on the opposite? Multiple input one output with audio splitter?

This stuff is garbage and does not work as advertised, do not buy.

I have 4 different versions of these including this model, when you do get them to work at 4k, they only do 30hz and you get blackouts when it handshakes, that is when you can get a signal at all

would it work ok for just 1080 type displays?

not so much from use at work we've found the only devices we are having no issues with are extremely expensive powered switches, we've even resorted to using a few home theater amplifiers with hdmi for this exact reason.

They all seem to either suffer from handshaking issues to compatibility issues, by far the best result we've had so far was from a 4 port hdmi el cheapo off ebay, it maxed at 60hz 1080p and had the best compatibility but would not not swap (going from a live source to another).

This exact one they are selling….. 4k 30hz…. from a 4k 60hz source no matter the hdmi cable, screen blackouts from hdcp handshaking a common, 1080p would go through at 60hz, but would still suffer the same handshaking issues from pc, ps4 and xbox.

And before anyone asks about hdr pass through…. nope.

        • Have you tried externally powering it? (if possible with the one you have)

        • @bdl: yup some of them wont work unless you do.

  • Can I use this to plug my laptop hdmi in and then have dual monitor output? Struggling using my laptop screen when I work from home 🤔

    • Yes, but probably not the way you want. The laptop will think only one monitor is plugged in, and both of the external monitors will have the same image.

For a dual-monitor set-up on a laptop, there are two ways you can do that:

      • use the laptop's built-in display as monitor one, and an external monitor as monitor two (you only need a HDMI cable for this), or

      • for two external monitors and not using the laptop's inbuilt screen, you need one monitor connected to the laptop's HDMI output, and an external video adaptor (usually USB3) for the second monitor's connection.

      • Ah I would prefer to not use my laptop screen at all and have a dual monitor set up. I'll see if I can try to make it work, since my hubby isn't home yet 🤔

  • Does anyone know if these things affect response time?

  • Wow OP very limited functionality if 30hz 4k!

Not sure I can negative vote for that, but honestly this thing is way out of date at HDMI 1.3

  • All of these types of adaptors are rubbish. Save your money. Powered switches were the only thing that have worked for me in the past. In the end for the home cinema, was easier to upgrade the receiver to one with more input/output
