I dont know, if now we can call it a bargain, as it needs 25 more members to buy, to make it a deal. But I wanted to share this bargain.

Once there are these many people
Its a pretty good price for a printer, thinking we cannot get a ink cartridge for this price.

You have to be a member for making your interest in the item.

Edit:
I clicked it, buy showed my interest to purchase it.
Also thought still 80 members are needed to make it a swarm and able to buy, but I got the email few minutes back with the discount coupon to purchase the item. :)

Updated the title, its 68 left now. I think it needs 25 members to promise to buy to activate a swarm.
Enjoy

Edit: Thanks to Ccrap, updating few things for a swarm
10( or 20) are required to make the deal active. and for those that dont know, the way swarm works is this:

  1. you register and show interest in the deal (note you have not committed to actually purchasing anything yet).
  2. once enough people show interest the deal goes active and dell emails you the unique code required to make the item that price via checkout.
  3. follow the instructions in the email from dell to purchase the item.

Additional notes regarding swarm deals:
1. Price includes GST.
2. Delivery is free.
3. 1 per customer.

You should know by now that inactive deals are not allowed.

it is active. Once you buy it. Then you get email in few hours for the code. I got mine :)

  • I clicked it, buy showed my interest to purchase it.

  • So do they charge shipping?

    • no

      • Thanks. Looks like they don't bother with the swarm idea. Just bought one then and upon clicking they just give you the coupon code that you enter into the Dell website to discount the printer.

        • no, one they reach the minimum number of interests, then the swarm becomes "live" in which case everyone then gets the code (until stocks run out)… you bought it when it was already "live"

  • Its active. 25 of 100 sold. There was a minimum number of orders needed for it to go live. 20?

    Anyone else seeing IIS errors?

Good grief, 2 people have ordered the Kogan. They must want the free delivery.

    • Kogan… wow. 32" for 400. These guys seriously need to join OZBargain.
May be they think, anthing in swarm is a bargain :)

Anyways. I tried it from Firefox and it goes smooth. try doing so, or enable java scripts (guess)

    • Kogan was listed as a partner a week ago on the site but I cant see that now.
They'll be bumping their own swarms thru on a regular basis and wont be letting 10 interested people miss out just because it didnt hit 20.

      • For Kogan TV (Kogan 32" Deluxe Full HD LCD TV) you only need 5 and 25 available.

        • Yah my comment was just in general and for future Kogan "deals".
If X amount of people are interested they wont let them miss out and can easily "swarm" their own deal.
Dell on the other hand may not.

  • It says the swarm's live! There's 68 more printers left to buy.

I suspect when gagans bought, there were 80 printers left, not 80 more buyers needed before the deal went active.

    …67 now…

  • +2

Even for free, I wouldn't bother with this god awful printer.

Thanks gagans. got mine. i think ppl got confused by your first line that 80 were required to make the deal active when that was the total amount left. only 10 were required to make the deal active. and for those that dont know, the way swarm works is this:

    1. you register and show interest in the deal (note you have not committed to actually purchasing anything yet).
    2. once enough people show interest the deal goes active and dell emails you the unique code required to make the item that price via checkout.

the other dell swarm item - kogan full HD 100hz lcd with pvr (via external usb hdd) looks like good value too! good reviews here: http://australia.tweaktown.com/reviews/3411/quick_review_kog…
anyone know if it'll be good for a pc monitor?? or should I just get the $139 acer 24" expiring today and save myself $260??

    • Thanks ccrap

    • np gagan

re my own query regarding use of the kogan as a pc monitor, this dude uses it with his macbookpro (same as mine): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lg91174GxMQ and it looks good.. grr.. what do you guys think? should I pay $260 more and get that over the 24" acer? (btw I have a 24" dell 2405 atm and would probably sell it if i bought the 32").

      • i'm contemplating the kogan as well, seems so cheap for a 32inch..only concern i have is how long these things last compared to branded stuff?..is it possible to upgrade warranty? hmm its a tough choice..if you already have a 24 inch i'd say go the 32!

        • thanks random123, upsizing does seem the logical thing to do but trying to resolve the additional $260 hmm..

dell doesnt seem to offer additional warranty for the lcd, but through kogan's own site you can get it for 3yrs @ $89 and 5yrs @ $129: http://www.kogan.com.au/shop/category/extended-warranty/

From what I've read about kogans in general on whingepool, dtv etc it seems that they are pretty decently built - i think the prevalent consumer electronic generalisation applies here: if it doesnt die in the first few months (ie within warranty) it should last a good few years for most people. Im sure there are some that'll die 1 day out of warranty but for most it will go the distance.

      • Ccrap,
frankly, I am not a big fan of non brand Tv. I was earlier thinking, you to get a branded one as Teles are so cheap these days and we were having quite a good deals posted here.

But Kogan has gone far from no brand to a known one in Australia and also I saw the video, you gave link, and I should say, its pretty decent.

but I dont think, Kogan swarm is going to make it. as it is still 2 person interested.

    • only 10 were required

FYI you wrong! It was 20 as I'm the 11st person bought it.
I guess OP saw this deal from this post http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/35179

      • oh no @powerrevolution,
I got the email from swarm today about the deal.

      • thanks powerevo, i meant 20 but did a typo and didnt realise till then to fix it.

"FYI you wrong!" haha love how you got so worked up about it though coz someone negged your comment below about it being 20. anyway I +1 it so I hope you feel better now ;)

  • THIS is such a good deal

  • +6

Got mine. The 82% discount also applies to accessories such as extra catridges, at that price it's worth doing. I grabbed 2 extra catridges and it still came out at only $20.50 for the printer delivered with 4 catridges (2 colour, 2 mono). Sweet deal.

  • -1

The deal is active once 20 reach.

    • -2

WTF I give the correct info and got vote down….sigh…

  • +4

bought with 2 extra cartridges came to $20.50. that's a steal considering you're paying for one cartridge rrp…

    • I thought of doing that, but isn't it cheaper just to buy 2 printers instead?

Edit: nvm, it only gives you the discount for one printer unless you're buying with more than one account.

      • +1

I think the cartridges with the printer is not full.

    • Now that is a bargain. A pity you can only add one of each cartridge. I got some A4 photo paper too. Thanks!

edit: what's the cartridge page yield? Could not find it anywhere. Does it come with "starter" cartridges?

  • +3

Damn, wish I saw this before completing checkout. I only got the printer without cartridges. Still a pretty good deal. The first time I'm up at 3am in ages and I get a $9 printer lol

    • me too :(
I also bought the printer only.

    • same :(

  • +1

only 6 left - 94 sold - what are all these people doing awake? yawns

gagans dell is gonna love you :)

    • +1

      lol. may be.
But I love more to make Ozbargainers happy and getting good bargains :)

  • GAME OVER!

  • +2

Good to see, so many people awake till now.
Anyways, I think, its time for everyone to go to bed :)

  • For people who didn't buy extra cartridge. Isn't refill work out cheaper?
    http://shop.ebay.com.au/?_from=R40&_trksid=m570&_nkw=Dell+V1…

    • but it does not show any results.

      • haha yeah no local results - scroll down and you'll see some international shippers which are fairly cheap but I dunno about their ink quality.

  • Checking order status? - The information that you provided was invalid, please key in the correct information from step 1 to step 3 again. Rage… i put in my internet ref. no. without the hyphens and email and it spits me that error.

    • same here, also has anyone had their CC charged??

      • I got order confirm through email :) all good.

    • Oh dear. Anyone else getting a bad sense of Délljà vu ?

    • Maybe the error due to the site get hammer?

      • What, the mail Dell e-commerce site being overwhelmed by a mere 100 orders placed over an hour or so? Hardly.

Swarm site wasn't overloaded either, just buggy. Still seemed to work fine.

  • LOL…we done it again!

We apologise, but due to over whelming demand for Dell Swarm, we are experiencing overload issues. Please check back soon to continue saving!

  • I snagged one at like 3AM or something, so I hope it goes through.
Kudos for the ink cartridge discount tip. :)

  • I get this when trying to checkout

"We're sorry, the coupon code you have entered has already expired or has reached the maximum redemption limit."

How do you contact them? their email doesn't seem to work.

    • I got the same error will give them a call in the morning.

    • Sam, shoot an email to this address and Devi will help you out. Devi_Muthukumaran@dell.com
My code is working on 2nd Dec but only for printer, not ink.

  • It charged my card and it says the order is being processed so it's all good I guess. :/

  • Arrived. but Damn! No Linux drivers. Huh? in 2010? I thought all printers worked with Linux now, even if the scanner or fax functions were incomplete. Not Dell or Lexmark, apparently.

Now what to do with a brand new injet printer and extra cartridges in Perth?
Ebay, or is it swamped with these things?
