      Lots of other things have a mini DP. Like PC GPU's and even the HTC vive has a mini DP.

      In terms of MacBooks, it's pretty much only useful on the Macbook Air. The MacBook Pro's either have HDMI ports, or use USB-C instead.

    I was looking for something the reverse way around. I want something that converts HDMI 2.0 output into DP input (monitor).

      You need something like this (but better):

      Kanex XD HDMI to Mini Displayport Converter

      It has to be some sort of active conversion rather than just a passive connector. The above seems to be limited to 720p for most scenarios, so sorta useless for my needs.

    Does anyone actually use Display Port? Other than higher bandwith (higher res at higher refresh from memory), when are they used and what reason would you want to use one.

      Does 4K/60. HDMI 1.4 doesn't do that. You need HDMI 2.0.

      It's the standard connector for monitors.

        I know that HDMI 2.0 does that but why use DisplayPort rather than the aforementioned? Wouldnt it be easier and more convenient to stay with the same port/ technology implementation?

          It would be, but many monitors including 4K monitors do not do HDMI 2.0. The only way to get 4K/60 output from a console (which don't output DP) is via a converter to DP, if they make them yet. There are plenty of DP->HDMI 2.0 converters, but not the reverse. The market for playing consoles on monitor doesn't exist to these cable manufacturers.
