Xiaomi Xiaofang IP Camera Location Set up Issue

I have two Xiaofang cameras. One is working fine. When I am trying to set up the second one, after everything is completed and I try to see the video feed, it says the location should be set as mainland China which I already did in the MI home app. I have tried after resetting the camera too but not working. Did anyone have the same issue?

    have a read through this

  • Some of the newer fang cameras have been retroactively blocked by xiaomi unfortunately.
1 out of 3 of mine are now blocked.
No work around as of yet apart from downgrading to an older firmware and not updating. Some people are saying that they are blocked even after the downgrade so ymmv.

    • That sucks.

      • Yep getting the same problem as yours now. One still works which I bought back in July last year, however the newer one which arrived a few days back keeps on giving the 'Mainland China' location error.

    • So I've got 2 Xiaofangs, 1 of them I've set up early last year and have never updated the firmware (version 2.9.0.7). I set the second one (version 3.0.3.56) up last week and got it all working with Mi Home version 5.0.29 with the locale set to "Mainland China". I just came back from holiday and plugged in the second one again as it was unplugged while I was away. Now it won't let me view it saying "Use only in mainland China. This product is only used in mainland China". I have no idea how this happened as I didn't update the firmware nor the app. The first one still works all good. Now what's interesting is that I can actually view the feed on the 2nd camera if I swipe right into the "Mi Home camera" tab and press play on the feed (yes I can view both streams at the same time). I can also full screen it from there. But yeah I can't get into the camera if I click on it from the main home page.

So I'm guessing I have to downgrade the firmware on the 2nd camera now? Even though it was working all fine on the firmware it shipped with. I tried resetting the 2nd camera and re-adding it on the app but no go. Also, on iOS, both cameras don't work at all now lol.

  • Im having trouble as well. Why would these cams be sold in Aus if they don’t work?

  • glad i only ordered one.. it has been a complete headache.

mine has never worked (bought oct 2017, just installing now for the first time).

i've different phones etc/ssid/instructions etc.. I can never get the camera to be detected. i don't get the message regarding china (mine is set to 'mainland china', app is 5.1.1, camera is ISC5)

    i've asked for a refund.
