NBA Playgrounds $15 (50% off) @ Nintendo Switch eShop

120

Title says it all. Yes this game got a bad rap for numerous issues at launch but it’s been re-released with all the patches at 50% off. A great couch co-op game at $15 imho.

Link is to UK store because for some reason the only way to access the AU switch store is through the console itself.

If you really want to be a hardcore ozbargainer you can switch regions to save a few dollars.

  • How does it compare to the fun, mayhem and competitiveness of the original NBA Jam or NBA Street games?

      Not even close

Good price for the game but online is dead :(

  • Other games which were put on sale recently: ARMS, 1-2 Switch, Flip Wars

    • +1

Even with sale ARMS and 1-2 Switch still pretty expensive

      • No doubt. Best to get a hard copy rather than buy it digitally. At least then you can sell it.

  • Tempted to get this. This discount is to promote the enhanced edition as per their Facebook page. According to that page, sale ends 18th January so will wait for the reviews and then buy if its the thumbs up.

Was just talking about this to some people on another site.

I've had it since day one (and am eagerly awaiting my free copy of Shaq-Fu 2), and back then it was a (profanity) blast to play. Me and the missus stacked up over 30 hours of co-op gameplay in the first couple months alone. Then the Switch version got the update all the other versions already had, and all of a sudden there was a COMPLETELY INACCURATE shot metre (instead of how it used to be, in that you would just hold the shoot button long enough and get a feel for how much each player needed to make the shot, which was so accurate I would often take the ball into the enemy's ring and slam it home from there), an annoying as (profanity) stamina metre encompassing how many steals and pushes you could make (in the past it was just sprinting that was limited, way more fun to just run after a guy and spam the steal button over and over), and the AI just got way OP (9 times out of 10 when the ball's in the air, I'll be right under it and they'll STILL get it, and they block nearly every steal now, and so on) and ultimately now it's still an okay game, but what it used to be was (profanity) amazing.

I pray to Shuhei Yoshida and the mighty Shaq every day that they will add a mode to bring it like the OG version, with unlimited steals, more realistic shots, and AI that isn't luckier than Adam Sandler for still making money.

tl;dr it's fun but it was a metric shitload better before the big update months back and I don't know if I'd honestly recommend it anymore when you can just download NBA Jam and have the same amount of fun there.

    • Has there been any info on a release yet?

      • There's NBA Jam for the Switch?

    Thanks, grabbed it.

Worked out just over $10 by using my 15% off JB cards to buy 15% off Nintendo eShop cards.

  • Bought it but not a fan at all. Do not recommend
