Aftermarket Alarm on Used Mazda 3 - Warranty

Hi Guys

I need a much need help as to what I should be doing.

I bought a used Mazda 3 from a dealer and it is fitted with Aftermarket immobilizer(already fitted before I bought it). The problem with that system is that it goes off when i unlock the car (sometimes) maybe once in about 5 times i unlock the car.

The car is still under 3 month warranty and I have taken it back to the dealer, they tried to diagnose the problem but the alarm didnt go off. So they problem still exists. My question is has anyone had any problem or been similar situation like me? What are my options ? Should I get back on the dealer to try to fix it ?

FYI: Battery Back Up Alarm System (Autowatch Brand)

Thanks

Just get them to remove the system, your car has an immobiliser so no need for an alarm. The dealer I used to work at had us remove the aftermarket alarms before vehicles went on sale for this reason, more trouble than they’re worth (plus aftermarket girl could try and sell a new one).

    • the car is still under there warranty, get them to fix it or replace it. Don't let the warranty period lapse, otherwise you're on your own.

      • Unless you think it necessary, or bought that particular car because you wanted an alarm I’d get it removed too.

the car is still under there warranty,

Statutory warranty, which varies by state but is not a bumper to bumper warranty. An aftermarket item would not be covered.

  • Op any update?

  • Yes, I went into the dealer and they still could not find the problem, the car itself has a factory alarm system that works. So I asked them to pull out the fuse for it so its now disabled.
