Great price on these earphones, may come in handy if you misplaced or broke the ones that came in box with the S8/Note.

Note: The product is a generic (not branded) but it's an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) version of the Samsung AKG S8 Headphones.

That means it is a fake… Fake goods are not allowed in Ozbargain..

Genuine ones are $12 on Amazon
OEM doesn't necessarily mean it's fake. They could have ordered them wholesale and sell them without packaging.

OEM hardware and software is packaged for distribution to companies who build systems. These companies are the original equipment manufacturers. This is why OEM products are usually sold in a generic box or wrapper instead of retail packaging. They’re not meant to ever be on store shelves.

Yes, but there are similar deals in the past and people said that the sound quality is far worse than the original earphones. Even if you look at the US$10 Amazon listing the rating is only 2 stars:

        • Same customer ratings for both Genuine & OEM.. same product, same ratings, different price.

@Nivlac: Just read the reviews on Amazon website and you will know what i meant. Don't like to yourself. Do you really think that a pair of US$99 earphone can be as good as the original one?

Coming up as 99c US for me. How do I get it for 50c?

  • Showing 99c for me as well

  • +8

Definite fakes. As are the ones in that Amazon listing (check the 1* reviews). The description states "generic(not branded)" to cover them…

  • I got these spare for my s7 from a development galaxy s8 they work well for included headphones

    • +3

If they're from an S8, even dev, they're probably genuine unlike these.

  • +1

Just reminder that even the earphones included as part of the phone package aren't "AKG Earphones".

    They are tuned by AKG.

Paid $1.99usd from this mob and got them and they sound like shit. 100% fake. AKG logo also not aligned on both ear pieces. Wires are flimsy and also one of the ears cuts out.

  • +2

    No chance these are genuine.

    $99 through Samsung

    • $99?!?

I'm happy to sell mine for half of that if anyone wants it! And just because it's 2018, I'll drop the price by another half! lol!

Got these on a previous deal a few days back.
Sounds shit the jack doesn't align properly in the port.
    FAKE!!!!

  • +9

I got these in the previous deal. The sound is no better than a 99 cent pair from the Reject Shop. The wires are very thin. The rubber around the earpiece is very uneven and the seams are misaligned. Don't waste your money and spend the $$$ on a proper pair! These were definitely fake. I lost my original pair on the train and am dreading that I will actually need to pay $99 to replace them, but unless you purchase from Samsung or an authorised reseller you are more than likely going to get a fake pair, like I have ended up with.

    • They are nice buds, but not sure if I'd pay $99 for it. I've had better ones with NC for a bit more than $99 (although I've settle on the Bose QC20 for my wired bud requirements). Try and track down the Audio Technica ATH-ANC series. They sound just as good and has a decent NC to it too.

I can confirm these are FAKE. Mine arrived yesterday and tested/compared them against the real ones that came with my Note 8. The sound quality is awful and its like trying to listen to music with ear muffs on. Unless you are desperate, then dont bother.

    • +1

Yes mine arrived on Monday. The only place for these is in the WPB!

  • +2

If these were 'oem' they wouldn't be sold with the AKG/Samsung Branding. Certainly fake.

  • These got removed before as being fakes!

  • Thanks for the heads up. I've requested a refund for mine.
I have a pair with the S8. Didn't like the sound quality even with a variety of 3rd party tips but they're handy as a backup. I bought a few to harvest the cable/inline volume control for other headphones but apparently the cable on these isn't the same quality.

    • How did you request for a refund? Did you speak to someone?

      • On the order page after making the order there was a button than had cancel/refund. I just clicked that. It took a while for them to process as it's only just come back to me. Not sure how long after making an order that the option remains.

  • Definitely counterfeit. There's no way Samsung would go OEM on these, they would sell them as over-priced accessories.
