I'm disgruntled with PlayStation plus the price has gone up with no added benefit. It's rarely on sale and when it is I seem to miss out. I purchased PS+ for my brother 2 weeks ago and now they have a incentive to buy it once again after I've already purchased it. I was a loyal subscriber during the PS3 ERA because it actually had value. But in typical Sony fashion they are falling behind the 8 ball in value for money.

    • +2

If you contact Sony support they will refund the difference

The free games in the last half year or so were pretty amazing. You could probably argue if you subscribed for 2017, you are probably in the black.

It's rarely on sale and when it is I seem to miss out.

It's been on sale 3 months in a row, and it's their fault that you miss out, how's that?
They gave a lot of warning of the price rise, a lot.

You don't have to wait for your sub to expire to take up a deal, subs stack.
It went on sale before the price rise, so many of us took that opportunity to buy multiple years. I understand many people can't budget for that, but they did give you the opportunity, so you can't be salty on them for that.

How is it less value now than in PS3 days, lesser AAA games, I'll buy that, however PS4 has a hugely smaller catalogue to draw from as it has been around far less. All other features are there, and now you have PS3 and PS4 games, not that I ever play the games.

      • Sin bin time.

        • It was so over the top and out of proportion, I found it funny, insults and request for me to have painful death and all.

        • @snuke: Wow was that the reply? Someone's triggered.

        • @TheOneWhoKnocks:

I'll send you a screen shot.

Can I see the screenshot as well lol

        • @snuke: I want one too, I never get to see these comments :|

        • @snuke: me too plz. I always miss out.

        • @snuke: me 3 for SS.

        • @snuke: im curious too please send lol

    • PS3 PSN actually had much more value in it and did not force you to pay for multiplayer. The inclusions on PSN+ for the games that were on offer was so good as they are like AA titles, almost monthly. And some people actually made spreadsheet and shown how good the lists were, and was comparable to purchase individual games.

Unfortunately most people would probably disagree with me but we shouldn't be paying the multiplayer at all on PS4. Every time I see PSN+ deals I'm glued to not pay anything for multiplayer and therefore I will never subscribe to this.

Even $5 a month can go somewhere else. I only turn on the console once every week or fortnight. there zero point of paying PSN+

previous deal was 60/12=5 per month
    this one 80/15=5.33 per month
    still a good deal

  • +2

Am I correct in saying I can stack this onto my current 12 month membership?

Growing up sucks! No time to play games. I would've bought this if I had time to try out this stuff but I have other priorities now.

      Just play adult games

I'm in my 40s and still find time for it. I often do it instead of watching TV. Especially with the garbage TV season about to start (basically wall-to-wall cooking shows), I leave her to it and go play games on the other TV :)

      • I do take out time, but not even close to how much I used to. Gaming time has dropped from a regular activity to an occasional one and I only choose games that won't take a lot of time out of me.

        • +3

Yeah, that's an issue for me, too - the fact that every game these days seems to want to last for 40 or 60 or 100+ hours. I find myself playing more of the smaller, indie kind of games. Not that I don't like the big budget AAA stuff, but I'd rather something that I can finish in 12 or 8 or 4 hours then move onto something else rather than a 100 hour epic that will take me months of my gaming time to get through.

I'm sticking with my $35/year Indonesian PSN. Use it purely for multiplayer access (set the account as your main and it shares with all other accounts) and don't care about the "free" rental games.
    YMMV.

    • Oh you can have it on one account, and it'll work on the others? I gotta figure out how to do that!

    • $28/year if Indonesian ps store on sale :)

    • +1

Can you not get the free games with this method?

      • +1

You can. It'd be different to AU but a similar list of games depending on the region.
        I just never bother.

        • this is the best route to go ,Its over priced otherwise

    • Please share your wisdom, I'm new at this PSN, thanks!

      • +3

Open an Indonesian PSN account, sub Indonesian PS+, add account to your PS4 -> online access and any "free" games from the Indonesian account will be usable for all accounts in your PS4.

Just be aware that the "free" games are attached to account and will be inaccessible if you decide to sub using a different country again.

Also, keep in mind save games are attached to the PSN account you play on and not transferable.

    • how do you buy PS plus subscription? for some reason, they wont accept my australian bank account, they only accept indonesian

      • Not sure for indonesia (I'm guessing its the same) but you need to buy that countries PSN value card, add it to your account then buy it.

You can buy membership voucher codes for SE Asia PSN from resellers like offgamers.com. Works out to be a lot cheaper. However, as a lot of people know about this, the resellers don't always have the voucher in stock.

You need to create an account set in SE Asia region. I picked Malaysia. You do get free PS Plus games. They are not always the same as the AUS PS Plus monthly free games. Two issues though:

      • Most, if not all games are in a different region. If you have not owned the game and never played the game, then getting the free game and share it across the account is easy. If you have played the game for a different region (i.e. AU) and have a saved game. The "free" game in the other region is often incompatible with the save file in a different region. Some games do provide conversion (i.e. MGS V), but most don't (so you cannot resume / load the save game from a different region). Also, some of the freebies for games won't work across region (i.e. if you have GT Sport AUS version like I do - I cannot get the free car for MY PSN Plus).

      • Some games have multiple versions. For examples, MSG V, SE Asia PSN have English, Chinese, Japanese versions. When it was offered to PS Plus for free last year, you can get all 3. Thing is, when you decide to install it, you need to choose the right one (i.e. English) and no, that English version is slightly different to the AU English version (lucky the save game file does convert).

This month, the free games for SE Asia are:

      • Batman - The Telltale Series (English/Chinese Ver.)
      • BioShock Infinite: Ultimate Edition (English Ver.) - NOTE: PS3 version
      • Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (English Ver.)
      • StarBlood Arena (English/Chinese/Korean Ver.)
      • Sacred 3 full game (English) - NOTE: PS3 version
  • Thanks a lot mate I was almost buying it when I saw your post here lol …I will wait and buy it tomorrow …cheers

  • One question, can i buy PS plus on my Australian account and use it for my US account?

    • +1

For online MP, yes. As long as one account with that console is set as their primary, has PS+, than all other accounts can use it for online MP.

    • Not just for online games. Games purchased from other accounts in a different region can also be played by all accounts (inc. free monthly PS Plus games). Save games may not work across region and some of the freebies (i.e. free GT Sport cars) are region locked to the game version.

  • Hmm, should I pay or shouldn't I. I guess it'll never be this cheap again, not soon anyway. So I may as well.

    • Been quite a few deals for it lately. It auto stole my money for another year least month, so I won't bother yet.

Yes, I know I can turn that off, but like so many other things that could be good for me I only remember while I'm driving or something so it'll stay on.
Right now, I'm too lazy to try to remember my PSN password, and the TV is on the other too, so meh

Point is, if you can wait another month, better deal may appear

      • Had mine set on auto renew accidentally and got a refund from Sony except they refund it to the PSN wallet not back to my bank account. May aswell buy it now i have $80 sitting in PSN wallet

    • Based on last year's sales, there was a ps+ discount around June (financial year I guess), then around black Friday, then Christmas. My sub ends on March… So debating whether I should get it now or wait til June and see.

  • Is this only for new memberships or can it be topped up with an existing a/c which gets direct debited every month?

    • +1

It doesn't have to be for a new membership, if you're already a member it will just extend your existing subscription by 15 months from the current expiry date. But (I think) you'd have to pay for it up front - the 12 month subscription is a separate item on the PS store from the 1 month and 3 month subscriptions.

      • Awesome. Thank you!

  • I can't find the 15 for 12 deal on the site.. do I just buy the 12 month membership and it will automatically give me 15?

    • let us know how it went

    • +1

According to the link the deals kicks off at 10:00 GMT on the 17th. So about another 12hrs before it goes live for us.

    • The deal at the top says it starts at 9pm AEDT. This is the normal time the store updates.

  • Does this work If add an additional 12 months to my current PS plus membership? I.e. does it add an extra 15mths for the price of 12?

I tried adding it to my cart but it still says 12mth membership

    • Look at the top, and the comment above yours.

      • OK thanks, it is hard to read EVERY message before encountering a problem with a deal. You got me this time! Just try not to sound so smug.

  • Damn.. Just renewed my subscription 2 days ago

    • Ring the support they should refund the difference.

  • Was a PS fan boy for a very long time.
    Currently own a PS4 and Xbox1.

After paying for Gold on Xbox i havent renewed my PSN and seem to be drawn to the xbox purely for the elite controller and the fact that the online value, content and ease of parties is much easier and simpler than PSN.

Sad day to actually admit this. + bcoz it is still a good deal. My PSN expired almost a year ago and even COD black ops 3 is not enough a reason for me to pay for it at this stage.

Sad to say even GTA is better on xbox than on ps4

    • You dont need PSN+ to enjoy the PS4. Most of top games like HZD, Bloodborne, Uncharted, TLOU, Crash, etc are all single player focused. You can always use the Xbox for multiplayer titles or games that are available on both consoles.

      • Most games now have an online multiplayer component.

I know I can still use the PS4 as a media player and to play single player games but realistically that is now very limited. Even GTA that used to predominantly be a solo localised game has online content in single player mode.

        GG

        • The SE Asia PS Plus yearly membership is about $37 AUD from some of the resellers. So far, I've only got MGS V, Infamous Second Son, Ratchet & Clank (all the other games are not even worth mentioning). I think it is still okay coz I don't think I can get all 3 games for $37 AUD (though I doubt I would buy those games normally), but I do hope Sony give out better games this year.

Online gaming, XB1 probably is better (since you do have Halo 5 and Gears 4 on top of the other online multiplayer games which are cross platform) unless you have the PC versions. There was the $1 game pass for a month offer. I was happy and unhappy about it (it is good you can play Halo 5, Gears 4, Gears 1 Ultimate edition, MGS V, plus a lot more - I already own Halo 5, Gears 4 and some of the better games on Game Pass).

Single player game - yes PS4/PS4 Pro. The 2018 exclusive titles look nice (assuming they are not delayed).

  • Note: "When you click [Order & Pay], we will turn ON automatic funding in your account settings." Make sure u remember to turn that junk off!
