  • nice….nice not sure if i should check out the jb hi fi 15% off deals…..any ideas???

  • Why not just say add $62 for Windows 7?

  • +1

eww vista! and intergrated video :O

  • +1

Integrated video seems like a bottleneck for the CPU. Otherwise a good deal for an i5 system!

  • U can have win 7 pro for an extra 70 bucks. Which is not bad.
Wish they let u upgrade the vga card tho.
Neat laptop for those who dont do heavy gaming.

    • Vista is suck. I'd rather get XP.
$70 for Win7 might be a good idea.

i wish i can drop the windows for extra discount of $100 !
why would you pay for windows.. its free "out there"

    • +3

      out there = stealing

Good reason to pay for it, if you ask me!

      • Yeah! Let's all ride some horses with ethics!
I don't steal a.k.a. pirate things such as Operating systems, it's simply too risky [Windows activator loaders work but they are RIDDLED with keyloggers and viruses, you don't know because you activated your windows illegitimately prior to installing AV], but I do pirate ridiculously expensive software such as Photoshop (Come on, who doesn't?), with the price tag of 699 USD, adobe can go eff themselves!
I wouldn't buy this laptop, Vista? Seriously? I thought windows 7 is a standard now, or you can downgrade to XP (good ol' xp).
Windows Vista and integrated graphics is a huge dealbreaker. 320GB HDD is also a little small..

  • is there any coupon that can drop the price a bit more?

    • You cannot use coupons with Cash Off/%Off Sale items.

    • lol was just about to ask that question!

There is also a i3 system for $598. Not much diff between the i3 and i5, just the turbo boost functionality which you probably won't use much with this type of laptop anyway (no dedicated graphics).

    • You can use MoneyBackCo to get the commission back as discount.

  • There are also other Vostro models on sale as part of Dell's "Last Minute Christmas Savings" promo (from 25% - 33% Off):

Promo expires: Thursday December 09, 2010

    • Thanks. Was going to come to OzBargain to post this but found it has already been posted. Saved me from being marked as duplicate :)

This deal from 2 months ago is actually better IMHO but this one is not bad either. We shall see more Dell deals before/after Christmas :)

  • I bought a Vostro 3500 (same specs as this deal) last week with Fast Track delivery, 2yr Pro Support and Win7 64bit, $914.50.

If I change the current deal to the same specs, less the 48hr delivery, it comes to $827.70

    Nice deal.

Pretty good machines and I have had to purchase a few of them over the last 6mths.
Two have had hard drives fail in them, Toshiba drives.

    • "Two have had hard drives fail in them, Toshiba drives."
      that is not good.

    • Toshiba makes their own hard drives?
My sis had an a200 satellite and it had a hitachi [that failed] in it.

  • +1

By the time you add say $200 for upgrades for O/S, video and drive upgrade (500Gb is pretty standard these days) this looks pretty ordinary.

    e.g. https://www.mln.com.au/product/?itemID=320&typeID=23 or

    • New to computers? For the price, this has more specs than a normal user needs right now, enough to last them several years of newb misuse. Even an i3 with 2GB RAM is great.

What good are "oh, but you could add this" posts?? So why buy a Commdore, when you can have a BMW, but they're ordinary too, 'cos there are Porsche, oh and don't forget Ferarri. Nah, they're all ordinary compared to a Bugatti Veyron, right?

      /facepalm
