Seems to be a very good price for this retrofitted lock.
Bought myself as it is compatible with HomeKit.

According to specs work with: Apple HomeKit, Android, Amazon Alexa, and Nest (Silver)

Saw Gumtree sales in the $200 mark and some on eBay @ $299 so this seems like a good deal so posting to share.
Unfortunately have no idea when this expires, and also as usual make sure its compatible with your existing lock as it is a retrofitted solution.

I bought something similar to that on kickstarter (https://candyhouse.co/) and it doesn't work. looks cool but most of the times it doesn't have the power (force) to turn the lock. it is now stored in the 'bought but won't use' box.

    • Might find that american locks are made slightly different

    • I have a box like that too. I feel guilty trying to sell or even giving it away given I know that it's not reliable/perfect.

  • It needs a “hub” to work with Alexa.

  • The linked product in this post states 'does not ship to 'xx state' Australia…
I have not searched for another listing.

    • i see this

Edit : just realised that was a response about shipping - I get the same as you

      • Yes i see that as well. But under the part where is says 'In Stock' thats where is says..

This item does not ship to MY CITY, Australia. Please check other sellers who may ship internationally.

Sounds like it ships to other states, cities in Aus

        • Said that for me on the product page but I could add it to my cart and ship to my address anyway. Just wouldn’t accept my PO Box.

    • Should ship to Australia, as I bought one myself. Maybe not all the states? Certainly no problem to VIC.

  • Hmm Gen 3 lock on Amazon for US$25 more?

    • Not the pro version

      • No, but its gen 3 vs posted gen 2 for not much more. The Pro is way more expensive.

        • Gen 3 (non-Pro) doesn't appear to be HomeKit compatible, whereas the Gen 2 is.

  • Reviews sound bad

    • yeah, reading it all sounds quite unreliable.

  • damn that thing is ugly

    EDIT: and hackable

  • bought gen 3 during black friday sales.
    highly recommend.

had digital locks for quite a few years now, and this is great (actually designed our new house to have a push pull front door with the intent to get an august for the dead lock

By using this system you rely on ONE lock for the door which is not good for security. While the normal way you have 2. One for the handle and the other dead lock. So remember this before buying.

This system is only good for convenience without keys unless you install 2 but then cost twice as much.

    • Most new homes I've seen built use inferior…well… Everything. A good kick will tear open most door casings without much effort.

    • Well on the flip side you get notifications of when the doors unlocked which might help you take some form of action if it’s unexpected. Not having to carry a key or duplicate for guests means there’s one thing you won’t lose that’s allow the door to be easily unlocked and should you lose your phone at least that can be tracked and your phone de-authorised without replacing the hardware. Lose your keys and I imagine most people will take days to replace the lock, if they even bother.

That and I doubt more than 20% of people double key lock their doors on a day to day basis anyway. If a burglar really wants to get in then the Windows probably easier.

For people that do double lock, how many people keep both keys in the one key chain so if one key is lost, both are? I know that’s not the only thing a double lock protects against but having bundled keys that can be lost is a big flaw in a standard setup.

As a bonus as this is an internal install only, anyone approaching from the outside will still see two standard locks.

It’s not fool proof but neither are traditional locks and they carry their own risks.

      • Agreed. I bought this myself personally for the door that links the garage and the kitchen; we often forget to lock it and this lock will just add an extra layer of security for notifications and also hoping for some automation for locking (eg when I press "Goodnight", the garage access door is locked).

  • Think i need a better internal privacy lock as my son just locked the front bedroom one and there is no way to unlock it from the hallway side. I know most of these you can unlock but this one does not have the flick switch. And at 38 plus today everything was closed up tight keeping the heat out.. Had to remove the window glass. Ie.. take off the beading strips and then the glass. Climb through the opening. Unlock the bedroom door and then put the glass and beading back in. What a pain… A nice looking interior smart lock would have been amazing to have 25 minutes ago…

    • depends on the brand but not uncommon to just unscrew the rose cover and shove a pen inside a hole to release the locking mech

  • yeah too true, I wish that had of worked, I did exactly that, but was a no go, my toilet door one has a similar one with a small flick switch that you need a screw driver, pen or whatever to get to and yes, easy to unlock, but this other one, don't know why but nothing attached anywhere and pushing a pen, skewer, or a allan key into did nothing, think its meant to have a small hidden leaver under the rose cover that you turn but its not there. Just happy I didn't break the glass or the beading strips (its a wood frame) strangely they are on the outside which seems counter intuitive to security.
