Ah - I just read the instructions re: dupes, I will report the old post to be updated!

It’s not a dupe, the old deal expired 18 months ago, outside the 1 month rule.

  • I missed DSE

      You should've aimed better

I miss the going out of business sales.
Hopefully they'll try again, unsuccessfully, for a happier me.

  • Just buy the Amazon basics as they seem to have moved back to the made in Japan ones.
Their 8 pack ones work out pretty cheap: https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Rechargeable-Batteries-8…

    • Does $2.50 each sound reasonable for amazon basics?
      $19.79 for 8 AAA

  • 4 x AA or AAA at ALDI $6 (they are the green ones at the checkout counter).

FAQ 1 : Are they sexy like Eneloops?
    A : No.

FAQ 2 : Do they work well as eneloop cells?
A : Yes. In my experience, I haven't noticed any difference between the two brands.

The ALDI rechargeables are not as good as the Eneloop/Eneloop rebranded(Made in Japan) rechargeables, but I guess you will only notice a difference when they get older, although most people have lost them or disposed of them 3-5 years down the line.

      • They are $5.99 for a 4 pack, so just buy another pack when they get older.

But if you have an Ikea nearby I would definitely try out their Ladda lsd rechargeables.
Apparently they are rebranded made in Japan Eneloops.

      • I mainly use them (aldi cells) in remotes, but I also use them in a Speedlight flash (which is very high drain), and I don't notice any difference.

The main problem with the Aldi cells is they don't look sufficiently different from disposable cells, the word "rechargeable" doesn't stand out, so if I don't get to them first, other members of the household may just toss them .

        • Aldi ones dont seem to retain a charge I have found.. I charge them and when I go to grab them in a month or two they are dead… eneloops dont discharge much in my experience… keen on trying the ikea ones though for the kids toys.

        • I will tell you my tale of woe, my wife threw out 4 AA eneloops from my sons game machine one day, didn’t find out until too late. Very sad :(

          @subydooby: i know a good divorce lawyer

    • From my experience, the green ones from Aldi don't last as many charge cycles.

    • im with you …stocked up and grabbed 3x packs of AAAs yesterday for $18 actually…great value

  • you forgot the postage cost so not very attractive deal.

  • Add postage in title

  • I hear that the Aldi and the Ikea rechargables are actually quite good quality, can anyone confirm?
I'd heard Ikea = Eneloop (but they seem to change) - Aldi, not sure where I read it, but pretty sure I did.

Just search for the last battery deal and you’ll see plenty of comments saying that the Aldi ones aren’t quite as good but are cheaper and that the white IKEA ones are just like the Eneloop Pros.

  • i think the IKEA ones are the eneloops , they all say made in Japan, Thoughts ? much more cheaper too $9 for 4 AA or AAA

    • The IKEA white batteries are considered/rebranded the same as Eneloop Pro's, the brown ones have the same stats as the Eneloop Lite
