  • Hmm, Android N Beta Build, Andorid [sic] 7.1.2 ready, " full access to Google Play Store apps like"…
I suspect that one may need to side-load the Play store, and check out the odd "phone home" feature on this little gem…

    • Can you explain a bit more? I am in the market for something like this and do worry about Chinese Android based tech.

      • +1

He has no idea of this box, a while ago I played a bit with this model, it has play store and can login your account. Mainly good for CloudTV Kodi sorts of app, not for netflix. I bought 2g version for $43.

        • you can download Netflix app and watch in HD.

        • where can I find the 2g version for AUD$43?

        • @he88388: from gearbest when they are doing "sale"

  • Be aware that you cannot get 4k Netflix with these boxes, which is where a lot of 4k content comes from.

    • who has the bandwidtn to stream 4K ?
How much 4K content exists on Netflix, I reckon be happy if they have what you want in 1080p and you have the consistent bandwidth for 1080p.

      • There's actually a fair bit of 4k on Netflix, nearly all the Netflix produced shows are in 4k. As for bandwidth, the 4k stream maxes out at 15.6 mbit/s on my TV. It looks great. You can argue the bitrate is less than 1080p blu-ray (20-40mbit/s), but it's definitely sharper and more detailed than the blu-ray content I have.

        • Who the heck has internet that fast? :/ I dont even have nbn in our area.

        • @AMLagonda: Yeah, I'm pretty lucky to be on nbn fibre

    • +2

Generic Android boxes only do 480p Netflix.

  • -3

    No .H265 HEVC - Don't bother!

    • +4

Link for both units shows H265 support

      • -3

Well it should be added to the deal description as it is a big selling feature…

  • -1

    4k off 1gb I doubt it

    • +2

RAM doesn't dictate whether you can play 4k video content - it's the chipset itself. How well something like Kodi may run is another story…

    • +2

the 1GB isn't the limiting factor, your bandwidth and congestion would be an issue ….. 4k uses a lot of bandwidth, especially with surround sound.

  • +1

Can this be used as a substitute for a chromecast, and can I use it with google home?

  • Openelec (variant) support?

    • +1

There is no Libreelec Kodi-Krypton support for these boxes. You will be able to use an older version on Kodi, but not the current one.

Also no HDCP and DRM support (other than google) so worth checking reviews if the box is able to play HD netflix.

      • There is no Libreelec Kodi-Krypton support for these boxes.

Yes there is? Just use the kszaq 905/905x builds.
