        • Thanks for understanding. I just couldn't….eneloop!!

  • These things would be good if you could save the notes/drawings as TIFF etc.

Yes you can. U just need the DSLR camera attachment from Sony/Canon.

For just like ten hundred dollars more you can get an iPad Pro with Apple Pencil to do just that.

  • I'm not sure in the days of iPads etc that this thing will cut the mustard with a child of any age.

    • what if the child was below 5 yrs old?
      would they know or care?

    You can get a 12" for US$14.99
I have one of these as well as a BoogieBoard, and while the 12" writes finer, it's not as bright as the BoogieBoard.
Not sure which type of display the Wicue has.

And I think poster above is right, Wicue doesn't seem to have anything to do with Xiaomi.

    • I've considered the 8" boogie board and 12" from zapals. Any suggestions as to which would be better for kids?

Hard to say. When I first got the Boogieboards the kids did say they wished they were bigger, but got used to it.

Here's a pic comparing the two. I like the 12" being finer to write. The kids don't really care.
You can see the diff in brightness though, if they are using in bright light, lots of reflections, the 12" is much harder to see (I think it's like the tech in the first gen Boogieboards)

The BB has magnets attached to the back already, the 12" doesn't.
But the 12" has an on/off switch to disable the erase, something the BB could have done with.

Also not sure if you can see it but the kids broke the surround of the pen clip on the BB. It's cracked in the middle, and you may be able to see the white stress marks at the ends where they pulled it outwards (on the other BB I have they've snapped them off all together and it won't hold the pen any more) Not really a general wear and tear thing though, just kids being inquisitive/destructive :)
Not an issue for the 12" as the pen just clips into the side edge.

I guess the 12" is cheap enough to buy n try. The BB's I think cost me around AU$20 each landed from Amazon, with some discounts from gift cards etc. I wouldn't pay more than that for them.

Inconvenient not being able to erase anything without wiping the whole lot.

    • Didn't you learn on an etch-a-sketch like most kids?

      • +1

Ha ha. My aging mother has accidentally lost her whole shopping list a few times on one of these.

  • what's going on with eneloop thing?
