Reward Pay to Pay Rent

Hi all,

Love to pick your points-loving brains.

Rent is $2400 for a business per month. If i paid with direct transfer =$0 fees and 0 points.

Rewardpay rent with an Amex Qantas card and get 1.25 points per dollar, so roughly 2400 * 1.25= 3000 QFF

Their fee is 2.4% + GST so on $2400 it comes up to $2452.80.

$52.80 of fees is tax deductible at roughly 40%.

TLDR: Would you pay $33 for 3000 QFF or just pay no fees and get no points.

3000 QFF worth $30 if using the 1 cent per point rule

  • Not worth it.

  • It really 'depends' OP, Its not really great value, but as its a business, it might be a different way for you to get some 'tax' free dollars out via the points system.

But basically, you're spending $33 to get around the same value back.

  • Doesnt seem like a great deal.. Can you look at Bpay-ing from a credit card instead?

  • I wouldn't pay the $0.01-per-point for QFF points.

Too many people have stacks of QFF points and it makes the redemption of flight or flight upgrades quite competitive (redeeming for anything else devalues the points much further!)

    • Yeh I normally stick by the $0.01 rule; considering my low status, its not like I'll get the upgrades even if i bid.

      thanks all

  • If the credit card transaction is more than 0.3-0.5% it's just not worthied.

    • Not necessarily. You can easily get 1.0-1.5c per point with flights

  • Thanks all. Food for thought; probably won't as I can't use my low Bronze, occasional Silver to bid for upgrades successfully.
