Fraudulent Transaction on BP Me

Had recently installed and used BP Me app on my phone, and 2 of the 3 times I was charged twice a completely different amount a few hours apart.

I usually don't check my credit card transactions for some reason was looking at something else and found this. So called out the BP head office they checked a few things and simply asked to go dispute with a bank when I know there was something fishy happening in the app. Terrible service for a multi national like BP..!!

Calling out to all the fellow OZBs to check your transactions if you are using BP Me.

I deleted the app, and raised dispute with the bank.

    Thanks for the heads up.
Had put off using the app as none of the BP stations near my usual commute are offering the service. Perhaps the app has been rushed out and they are still finding bugs etc.

Don't worry you are not missing out much.. :)

I had a poor experience with the app the first time I used it.

I misinterpreted the instructions, filled up, and then tried to use the app to select the pump I was at and then pay. It showed me that it was unlocking the pump, and that it was ready to use. I attempted to cancel, the app didn't show any active sessions. Got a shock to get an email with a receipt for what must have been the next person to fill up :P

Their customer service in trying to obtain a refund has been shockingly slow to say the least.

    • +1 I had a similar experience first time filling up using that amex credit. Had to go back a second time :/

    • I am not surprised, the instructions are non-existent, its slow as. Most of the time, by the time you sit at the pump fiddling with the app you could fill up and go in and pay. I installed it so its a bit easy with my 5yr old so I don't have to get her out of the car to go and pay.

That's the issue. All these companies want is DIY to save overheads and costs, eventually make their employees redundant and brag about their Billions of dollars in profit.

Therefore they create this app …. for convenience as they state! .. yeah really convenient!
Then this happens and they throw their hands in the air and say .. go to your bank and dispute.

I always go and pay at the cashier and get a receipt.
You have records for any dispute (if they accuse you for a runner) and also if your fuel is contaminated for any reason, there is some sort of evidence.

    Good luck

Seems like the same thing with 7-11 app, they make you enter card details but when money starts going missin, no one cares (someone got me for $10 and couldn’t dispute through the bank as amount was too low, and 7-11 didn’t care to respond to emails and Facebook messages). Maybe a bit more app QA needed before taking ppls money.
