    Just a heads up.

After March 2019, they will no longer be including PS3 and PS Vita titles, so make the most of it.

    https://twitter.com/movingpicturetv/status/96889818227191398…

    • Ahh…2019!!
I read the email as being this month. Thought it was kind of short notice.

    • -6

Will they increase the number of PS4 titles given out or you only get 2 instead of 6 games?

There are still a ton of Vita games they haven't given out yet, like P4G.

If you only get 2 games, I'm unsubbing. They started out charging $50, then raised it to $60 and the quality of games given out dropped. Now we're going to be paying more for less.

If it's two indie games a month, forget it. If it's two AAA, maybe I'll keep it but I own all the AAA I actually wanted to play.

      • +4

Maybe cutting out the PS3 / Vita games means they'll be able to afford to give out 2 AAA PS4 games a month instead of 6 indies of varying quality across 3 platforms?

It's kind of a shame, though - some of my favourite PS4 games from PS+ have actually been PS3 / Vita games that happened to be cross-buy so we also got the PS4 version. E.g. Sky Force Anniversary was awesome - I still play that regularly even now, months later.

      • -2

Not sure why you get negged. You have a valid point. Compare to old PSN sub, current one since PS4 release is really nothing compared to all the AA or AAA titles that went almost a year under PS3

Therefore PSN sub sucks under PS4 and people just need to accept it

      • They've said it's only going to be 2 PS4 games. https://twitter.com/Polygon/status/968899759393173505

    • +2

      2 x PS4 + 2 x PS5. Beleive

      • +3

Or they could make it cheaper.

        Lol.

        Or is that too sensible?

  • +4

i wish ps4 didnt class a digital game from 2 different territories as different games to the disc version, i have saves from both the AU versions of Ratchet and Clank and bloodborne and also have the dlc for bloodborne AU but my ps+ profile is setup for US

what happened to games being region free this generation?

    • +1

Just download the games with your US account and then open them with your AU account signed in instead; your save files should work. The DLC on your AU account won’t work with the game downloaded from the US account though.

      • Are you sure about this? The 2 games I tried (MGSV: PP and Infamous Second Son) - base games (not DLCs). One came with game converter (MSGV) whereas the other one simply refuse to load the AU saved game.

        • If you found two games that worked, the dev went through the extra effort to let you do it. It's not mandated by Sony that your DLC will work with a different region's base game.

MGS PP and Infamous First Light are not DLC. They are treated as stand alone, so they don't require the base game, and are not tied to the region of the base game.

        • @lostn: Only one worked and it was developer making an effort.

It's an issue with games from different region in general.

All 3 games mentioned are region specific and only one has a converter. The other two (infamous games) do not have converters so you have to start over again if you play the base game from a different region.

      • Yes this works. I had been using this before. You just have to download the game from respective account and it’s available to be played on any other account on your ps4. Only restriction is dlcs are locked to whichever account that purchased them

        • This is about save games. Basically, for people who already owned the physical games and played them (in AU region for example). If they have PS+ in another region and those games were offered free, what they are not able to do is click on the game (without inserting the disc) and resume playing (since they now supposedly own the digital version of the game, albeit from a different region).

This region specific check is annoying because you cannot enjoy the benefit of digital version (no need to insert the disc) unless you (1) install the digital game from that region - basically install second copy of the same game (2) in most cases, save games won't work so you need to start over again. For example, I would like to play Ratchet and Clank if I don't have to insert the disc from time to time (which it was already offered free in certain PS+ regions), but I don't want to start all over again (and if I have to insert the disc, I'd probably play a more recent game).

This is not an issue for most of the XB1 games I tried. While I am not happy that majority of the XB1 games I own are now on game pass, the fact that I can play them without discs (despite some are from a different region) is very handy. This is 2018, surely Sony can stop this nonsense.

        • @netsurfer: I can only speak from my experience but I've had AU disc versions of in Street Fighter V and Infamous First Light that I started with my AU account then later purchased digital versions of these games from the US store. I had to reinstall them with the US account but when I opened the games with my AU account the previous AU saves for each game loaded just fine.

        • @mr_me450: Infamous Second Son didn't work for me. MGSV:PP, it asked me to convert the save game. It's good to know Street Fighter V and First Light work. Re-install each game is a bit annoying (but it is not a big issue). I didn't have this issue with XB1 games - no need to reinstall (but, there are some cases where I had to use a VPN to get some of the digital game codes to load into the XBLive profile).

      • +1

Definitely doesn't work. I finished Dragon Age Inquisition on my AU account, then sold my copy. Decided to rebuy the GOTY edition on the US store so I could finish the DLC. Had to replay the entire game again :'(

    • Two disc versions of different regions are also considered different games. If they have a differen't PLU, your saves and DLC will not be compatible.

      Stick to one region.

what happened to games being region free this generation?

The games are region free. The DLC is region locked to the region of the base game. They will run on any region of hardware, so they still count as region free, but since they are an add-on, they are region locked to the region of the add-on.

Remember, region free refers to whether or not the hardware can play it. And it still can. It was never a promise that your DLC will work on any region's base game. I mean, you can't buy English region DLC and apply it to the Japanese base game can you? It wouldn't be compatible. And neither would EU and US due to addition of more languages in EU and SEA.

      • +3

Lostn, we had this discussion from another post. Once again, majority of people with multiple profiles from different regions do not like the twisted argument of region free: you can still play, but start from scratch or buy all games from the same region. Both essentially tie you to a single region.

XBox one games codes, some are truly region free (you can apply them to a game profile from other regions or save games work across regions) so this is certainly doable.

        • Agree. Compartmentalised region free = nuisance. Totally region free (including save games and DLC) = useful. Not sure why lostn keeps pushing this point, we can argue semantics over the terminology, but it does not help consumers to have restrictions, so who gives a crap about semantics?

Current system = nuisance + room for improvement. That's all that matters.

        • @lostn you not really getting what my main complaint was, @netsurfer gets what i am saying, my main profile is setup as US ps+ but when i buy a game locally (AU disc) i can play it fine and i understand if i want to purchase dlc for it i have to switch to my other AU profile to purchase it and 99% of the time the dlc unlocks on all profiles. my main issue is that if i then sell/trade the disc version in and later that same game comes to ps+ instant game library more often then not it means having to start from scratch as save files are for a different game id according to psn.

basically my new game + save file from the disc (AU) will not be compatible for bloodborne digital version (US) and my save file for Ratchet and Clank with most weapons upgraded to the max will not be either, PC and other consoles this generation including nintendo do not have this problem with save files being tied to specific regions game ID, just sony.

region free went to nintendo this generation

Ah Kos, or some say Kosm

    • Oh god I just got chills. I think I spent a full day on that boss.

    • +2

      Ooooooooohhhhhhh!

    • +1

Love this game, wish they would release demon souls for ps4

  • +2

    Tonight, Ozbargain joins the hunt!

  • +15

Anyone who just didn't think they would like ratchet and clank enough to spend money on it, or that it is just for kids- now is your chance to play. I was surprised at how good this game is, and i am not even mad that i already own it.

    • +1

I've almost gone for it about 4 times. Glad I held off and now excited to finally play it.

    • Yep - great game.

    • +1

Had finished it and just sold it off for $30 a few weeks ago. Great timing, now I have it on my account if I ever want to go back and chase all the golden bolts.

    • It's polished, but I didn't really find that I cared or enjoyed it extremely. It filled a gap, that was enough, I wouldn't recommend that anyone buy nor avoid it.

  • +4

Nice, was on the fence about buying bloodborne, so I'm glad it's on this months list!

Now I've just gotta get through the current 5 games I'm playing

    • +6

      Bloodborne will consume you

      • +3

… and Nioh will spit you back out!

  • +2

    good month

  • Wow nice lineup

  • Bloodborne and Ratchet and Clank, would definitely get them if I didn't already have them
    👍

  • +3

Great list of games… now if I could find a deal on PS Plus membership.

    • Just sign up for a free trial with a different account, make it your primary, play with your user account then finish the game you like in 14 days.

    • +1

You wish has been granted. 12 months PSN+ is currently reduced to $60 at JB Hifi, EB Games, and on PSN.

      • +1

Yes it has been, perfect since I also picked up the 15% off JB Hifi discounted vouchers from eBay last December.

        • Nice! Impressive bargain play. Can we get a slowmo replay of it?

  • Not coming up as free for me strangely… i have logged in and my subscription is active

  • +3

Probably best line up I’ve seen for me.

  • Expired subscription since I'm just playing single player campaign games atm.
Is this worth re-subbing even if its only for a month? Highly doubt I'll be able to finish both in a months time though… ;(

    • I would say so, you could get a 3 month subscription for $33.95.

    • +1

If all you want is Bloodborne, just keep an eye out for a sale. I've seen it in PSN sales for under $20, and that's including the DLC. I haven't really paid much attention to R&C, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it on sale at some point for a similar price. So you might be better off just buying the individual games on sale where there's no time limit on them so you can play them at your own pace. Although I think you'll miss out on the multiplayer component of Bloodborne if you don't have PS+, and if you've played these games before (Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, etc) then you'll know the online is a big part of it, although you can play the whole thing offline if you want.

  • +3

    What a month.

    Bloodborne is amazing.

  • The post is based on EU PSN Blog. Most likely, the AU free games will be the same. That won't be the case for some other regions though - because Ratchet and Clank was already offered free in some of those regions previously. Therefore, if you want to buy PS Plus for SEA region (12 months, approx $40 AUD), you won't get Ratchet and Clank (because it was offered free before for SEA). There is no guarantee of Bloodborne either (since March 2018 free games have not yet been announced for SEA region).

    https://www.offgamers.com/buynow/playstation-plus-12-months-…

And, if you currently use AU based PSN profile, using a PSPlus subscription from a different region, you could run into the save game issue (mentioned in comments above) and the need to re-install games.

  • I think the ante has been upped to validate PSN's existence given that game pass is getting a lot of attention lately.

  • Seek the pale blood, ozbargainers!

  • Off topic, was thinking of purchasing a PS+ subscription, should I get an AU one or setup with the US one? Cheers!

    • +2

The monthly games are generally the same. Just depends where you get your games. And as dlc is region locked i guess that's the one you want to sign up for

  • :( when will i get games i don't own. LOL. R&C is a great game. A good month

  • +1

whoa best game of this console generation is on PS+!

    and Bloodborne too I guess.

    • Thanks for letting us know but we don't care

      • -6

Neither do I care about these neg votes.

People just can't aceept other people's opinions that these titles aren't as good as their original publishers first release

Come neg me some more. Neg has now become simple button press and go. Cause noone knows who you are on the other end and just neg for fun

        • +6

If you didn't care, you would have not made this comment.

        • I did prefer Dark Souls, both are bloody brilliant, but Bloodborne over Demons Souls every day.

    • Maybe Dark Souls 1, but Demon Souls??? No chance.

  • Anyone else not able to see the games?

    • +3

The games are supposed to be released on the 6th March. What they don't say is that it's European time, so later tonight is when they will appear.

      • What they don't say is that it's European time,

It's been 6th March in London and most of Europe for over 10 hours now.

        • This happens every time. :(
          Normally appear the morning after.

        • @Viper8:

Even across the US it has been 6-Mar for at least 3 hours…

    • +1

      Free now for me

      • Yay !!!

  • Quick question, are the games available to play on my account even after my PS plus trial expires? If not, are they also only playable in march (as long as i have membership?) cheers

    • +1

As long as you have membership, the games are yours to use.

    • +1

Active subscription required. All the PS Plus "free" games you collected, you can play them only with an active PS plus subscription. If you want to take a break from PS Plus subscription (i.e. not renew it), you can, but until you renew the subscription, the games you collected previously cannot be played.

      • Just what i needed, thanks!

  • +1

Bloodborne is easily one of the greatest Ps4 games there is. Many find it tough, but stick with it, patience and perseverance will be rewarded. One of my favourite Platinums 😊
