Excellent value and cheaper than most Citizen Eco-Drives.

Looks great but that is pretty big for a Seiko. I would love to get a Seiko Solar around 40mm ish size.

    • Agreed. I have an existing 40mm stainless watch and even that’s pushing it for size/weight/comfort. Changed my mind on this purchase.

    • Can't beat big watches, unless you have ridiculously skinny wrists?

    • Bit of a feature of the Recraft series. I picked up an SNKP23 (http://seikousa.com/collections/recraft/SNKP23) a couple of weeks ago while we were in the states and it's deceptively big and quite heavy, especially back-to-back with my titanium Citizen.

      Love it, though.

Seen a few 'solar' watches. Does that mean solar powered?

    • +3

Yes it does. Click on OP's link, land on the eBay page, and it is clarified in the section named Item Specifics. Citizen Eco-Drive and Q&Q SmileSolar and some Casio G-Shock and Baby-G watches are also solar powered.

Cool, now I'm interested in watches again! Thanks

        • +2

At these prices, you may as well be. Perhaps you will plus-vote OP's efforts?

        • +3

          @PJC: done! ;)

    • +7

With a face that large it probably qualifies as a sundial

      • +4

Could solve our runway electricity prices, one wrist at a time.

<Ahem> Would that be a roster of 21 times a month for each male?

    • Technically it's a quartz movement powered by a rechargeable battery, in this instance recharged by solar power. Seiko suggest three hours of direct sunlight should recharge the battery fully and should power the watch for 6 to 12 months depending on the model, but they will charge from general light sources like ambient light and fluros.
      http://www.watchalyzer.com/watches/seiko-watches/solar/

I have Citizen and Pulsar (a Seiko brand) with Seiko movements) with solar charging and this is consistent with my experience. I do leave them out in direct sun once a month but have never had them go into low power mode (they tick once every two seconds) if I've forgotten and they're just left on a dresser top or bench.

Reports of the Citizen equivalent suggest the batteries are capable of lasting 10 years plus before needing to be replaced, and even then it's not a particularly expensive job. They're not a regular battery, though.

    Nice watch, thx WN.

  • Watch lovers,
where do you buy NATO strap with decent quality? I bought few from Ali Express, the quality is 90%, 10% ok when I was lucky
    Thanks,

    • Cheapestnatostraps.com

    • so aliexpress was 90% ok? planning to buy from them

    • +1

Ali ones are crappy. If you wait for US public holidays or days of significance you can grab the best bargains, such as 30-50%, 2 for 1.

If you are specific, I can narrow some down for you. E.g. budget, material (nato, zulu seatbelt, leather nato), hardware (polished, PVD brushed).

      • How about nato polished or brushed for $aud10 each? Looking for bands for my new Pepsi alpinist and urchin and Wenger , 😀

        • +1

I'll give you a few suggestions tonight when I have more time. But you'll have to up your budget slightly, but it's worth it.

        • @ilikeit:
Awesome! thanks, happy to adjust my budget as i know you know watches and bands a lot more than i do.

          @obiwan:

Tips - hardware must be stitched, no alloy hardware, the site should give the width and length. You don't really want shorter than 27cm. 28cm is good since you can tuck the excess or cut it off. Try to match the hardware with the watch case i.e. colour and finish.

The problem is that in Australia we usually must pay for shipping. Most of the "Australian" ones I have seen look low tier in an AliEx kind of way. Value wise, NatoStrapCompany privde the best bang for your buck - when the're on sale.

From expereince you will have much better satisfaction with a quality strap, you will know what you are getting since the spec sheets are genuine, they last longer, and of course…they look better. You don't wear crappy shoes with an expensive suit.

Cheapestnatostraps - cheap and basic, slowww delivery (4-5 weeks with no tracking), free shipping over US $25 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/cheapestnatostraps.com I'd spend more to get more.

NatoStrapCompany - affordable, most durable I have tried but not necessarily the softest, the holes don't lose shape. Ridiculous amount of colour and hardware combos. Be sure to get stitched hardware. Often 2 for 1 or half price at BF, Cyber Sunday Veteran's Day holidays. Tracking with 2-3 wait. No seatbelt straps

CincyStrapWorks - haven't bought, but held in very high regard. Good quality seatbelt straps. Currently have 22m leather straps on discount with code on home page. Have to pay postage.

Phenomenato - absolute best seatbelt nato you can buy. Almost Omega quality (which is the best and costs ~$200), holds the shape of holes compared to some other seatbelt natos. Pricey.

Toxic Natos](https://www.toxicnatos.com/) Use the code 10Off at checkout for 10% off. Excellent service and great natos held in high regard. The hardware is squared off and the buckles are high quality. 29cm long is a plus. The material feels more up-market compared to the other brands I have tried, incomparable to AliEx. Their seatbelt weave is called Shiznit and their regular weave is N80. they also sell soft vanilla scented rubber straps, not silicone crap that attracts dust.

WatchGecko sometimes have some good deals in their sales section. Quality is decent, however, I wouldn't recommend their seatbelt nato. I think the code 'WatchUSeek' gives 10% off (google it to check code).

@ilikeit: thank you soooooo much for the detailed reply, I am going to save this on my Evernote for fast reference. It saved me from buying 10 different bands on AliEx and the cheap eBay Aus sellers. I know dozens of other watch newbies like me will benefit from your post

    • I meant 90% are very bad quality.

  • So I'm guessing

Lume - I don't think there is any
