[WA] $3 a Pint of Beer @ Chelsea Pizza Co. Nedlands

780

THE war on beer prices is gaining momentum across the city with a Perth institution joining the revolution to sell pints…. at a new low of $3.

A fight to sell the cheapest pint in Perth was sparked earlier this year when The Village in Subiaco set the benchmark with $4 pints, to bring back the punters.

And with the cost of consuming was coming down all around him, owner of Nedlands’ Chelsea Pizza Co. has gone one better - slashing prices to a cheaper-than-a-coffee $3.

The popular pizzeria, which has been a staple of Stirling Highway for 45 years, announced the move today with costs coming down as of Tuesday.

The Vic in Subiaco was doing $3.50 Roger's pints.

    • They are still selling something cheap, don't recall what but they had to re-brand it as the brewer didn't want their beer being de-valued.

      • They were doing Hahns for a while

          You can't de-value Hahn

      • Hahn Super Dry $3.50 a pint.

The only problem is we have no idea what beer this is. Guessing mid strength at best. It’s a cleanskin brew branded as Chelsea Lager. I’m happy to pay the extra 50c at The Vic for a pint of Rogers. Also what size pint is this? 473ml or the proper 568ml? Need someone to test this out.

    • Intrepid pizza and beer fan please go and report back

      • You do realise that Rogers is midstrength too?

        • Also a Pint is a Pint in WA. So yes it’s 570ml.

  • We need a price comparison site for discount pints . Maybe Boozle.com.au could have a "on tap near me" option .
A pint isn't cheap if I need to spend $60 in Uber fares to get there and back .

  • Share the receipt ! To price match in our local pub which wont end so well.

  • I dropped in to a pub in Belmore nsw for a beer last week they charged me $5.90 for a middy

  • Not quite the same but for those in the suburbs near High Wycombe they do $2 midis between 4-5pm for local beers.

Is this cheap? I’d still buy a pint of something I’d enjoy…

Why the frig can't Melbourne have a beer price war?? It's $14 a pint here.

    • Melbourne has great beer prices. Pokies offset the cheap beer. In WA you are lucky to get a local beer (Swan draught) for $10 a pint. VB is around $12.
      No pokies here.
These couple of pubs in the "beer war" are only in west Perth suburbs. Chumps like me in the burbs are still paying a premium. But it's getting better.

    • I know for a fact that York on Lilydale does $5 pints of beer of the month. 1hr train ride for cheap beers if you don't live out that way.

      • Do they have pokies in the CBD? None of the pubs we go to near work have pokies.

        • The CBD is full of Pokies
Decent priced beers at The Mail Exchange opposite Southern Cross

        • @micksimpson: I'm up the other end. Maybe I'm going to the wrong places.

        • @MikeKulls: That's not a bad thing, pubs with pokies are not generally as nice as the one's without, but the beer and food is cheap

        • @micksimpson: I have real dislike for pokies joints. Generally the food isn't overly imaginative. Chicken Parma or roast of the day etc

        • +1

@MikeKulls: completely agree, all they have going for them is cheap beer.
If you're looking for a decent feed or atmosphere you have to pay for it
