910

As title states 2.5 inch 1TB drive for 99, max 2 per customer.

There was at least 10 left (as of 10am on Boxing day) at Harvey Norman Chadstone, this is 9 bucks better than MLN's price for today's sale.

EDIT: MLN is now 2 bucks cheaper @ 97

Also, a LG external DVD burner for 49 as well, probably 6-7 left at Chadstone.

Didn't buy any myself, but the prices ain't too bad.

  • any idea on the actual model? The Lasso link says catalog not available in my location, is this limited only to HN in Vic?

    • its the s2, not sure if its just a victoria thing, i couldnt find the catalogue on hn main site

  • heaps left in HN Aspley, QLD

  • Will this fit in a ps3?

    • +1

NO. ps 3 max is 9.5mm. Biggest known drive is 750gb.

    • these are native usb drives, no sata interface at all

    • Yes, why do you keep asking this.
These are external HDDs that plug into the USB port.

You need to get something that looks like this http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTJThs2oycsC7pct6XVW…
if you wanna upgrade your Playstation's hard drive.

    • get a SSD, wont be too large capacity wise :)

  • Picked up one from HN Garden City (QLD) this morning. They weren't marked at the discounted price and they had to enter the sale price at the checkout.

  • +1

my pick in the catalogue : 2TB External for $99 !! again cheaper than MLN … now to find out if they have any stock !!

    • Yeah that awesome by is it the new USB 3.0 which would make it awesomer?

Also the 16gb USB stick fir $19 looks good.

      • nah, its only the usb 2.0 model.

      • yeah that usb key is a good deal

  • +1

Got 2 at Preston, about 30 left.

  • Sweet was just about to purchase a MLN 640gb one. This is much better! Seems HN is struggling?

    • +5

Don't worry too much about Gerry, I doubt even at these prices he'll be going short of turkey on his plate these holidays! ;)

  • Does it have a SATA interface inside or is it welded to the USB? I'm thinking replacing its case with a USB 3.0 one.

    • Damn it - just went through the difficulties of opening the case (and damaging it in the process) to find that the hard disk is welded. This isn't suitable for anyone planning on putting it in a laptop.

  • Is this the largest capacity external HDD that is USB-powered? Is there any 2TB with USB power?

  • anyone know how many left at HN at highpoint

  • +1

So the day finally came, for which we were waiting. 1TB 2.5" to touch the magical 99 :)
    great deal.

    • Agree. WD to follow suit.

  • There are none at HN Woden, ACT. Also, re the 16Gb USB stick for $19, I bought the last one that I could find in store.

    • There were quite a few left of both the 1TB drive and the 16GB USB stick at HN Fyshwick, ACT. Got mine around 3pm today.

we now have the Samsung S2 1TB portable for $97
if you paid more for them at MLN we will refund you the difference, just go back to the store you made the purchase from.

Normally I would not post on someone elses post, but today is an exception.

    • Just went to Heidelberg store and was told the price is $139 and mentioned that on MLN website the Samsung 2.5" 1TB still advertised at $97 but the sales rep said that was the boxing day's price. They are not selling at that price anymore!!!! What does this mean????
      So disappointed!!
Told them Harvey Norman sell it for $99 and was asked to get it from HN??
Just want OZB know about this!

Anyway left the store and feel not going back to the store anymore…

  • +3

MLN, would it be possible for the price to including shipping? for under 100 dollars?

    • -1

Second this, if MLN wants to fish here they should offer a similar price to HN's including shipping since most of us are not close to their stores.

      • +1

But not all HN still have stock e.g. Woden as reported by BlueSkyHarvest.

  • Plenty left at Indooroopilly Harvey Norman.

  • +1

i really hope 2011 is the year Harvey Norman will be revolutionized. I think most people are sick and tired of his high sticker prices. Perhaps Gerry Harvey should step down and let someone else have a go. Gerry is getting a little old and perhaps a bit of dementia is creeping into the old fellas noggin.

  • None left at HN Knox when I got there (about 2-ish) this arvo. :(

  • -1

Does anyone know what time Harvey Normal Open tomorrow (27/12/10) at Liverpool?

  • +1

    Plenty left at HN Nunawading

    • Thanks for the tip. QV was sold out today.

  • +2

    both 1TB 2.5" and 2TB 3.5" are at that magical mark $99.
Couldn't decide which one to get.
so I bought them both as a gift to myself.
one for Christmas, one for New year.

these are the perfect gifts :p

    • lol

    • nice work!

  • is the smaller 2.5" purely usb powered? ie doesnt require power?

and will it plug into a laptop or ps3 to stream media? thx

    • it is powered by usb.

  • Hi all, can anyone confirm if the 2.5'' USB 1TB drives will work plugging straight into Media Players (ie Highlander Media Player) just like a normal 4GB etc USB stick??

  • +1

Good bargain. Several left as of 9am this morning at Chatswood HN. The drive inside is HD204UI, which is a F4 Ecogreen drive. 5400RPM 32MB. Great green drive (which is what I needed), but don't expect 7200RPM performance. Torx-8 drives needed to remove the drives, and warranty stickers are in the way.

    • +1

      Isn't that a 2TB?

      • oh oops.. you're right. This is the wrong bargain thread.. :-)

  • Ran out at Gordon. Ended up picking 1 up from Chatswood. There were about 20 left and were labelled $199 still, which meant that only those that knew they were on sale would go for them. When they checked stock in Gordon I managed to sneak a look at the numbers. Most stores only had around the 30 mark however Auburn had 220+ if people start getting desperate.

    • I didn't see any Samsung drives at Chatswood. Where were they placed?

      • I couldn't see any at Chatswood, either.

        @sputnik, smurfz:
Would you mind sharing where these were placed in Chatswood?

  • Plenty in Frankston at midday today (both of the 3.5 and the 2.5s).

  • all sold out in Bendigo

  • When pulling out the 2.5" harddisk from the package, it dropped out and hit the floor.
    Bad design!
When pulling out, make sure you pull out the accessory box at the same time.

    • Sounds like you were opening it while standing up. Usually you put it on the table and open it..

  • Hope, I can get one in Auburn store tomorrow.

    • There were a bucketload at Auburn today. I picked up one and there were probably close to 200 or so left.

  • Got the last of the 2TB units at HN Greensborough Vic today…. great price to store all my HD video from my new Sony camcorder!

    • Uhuh ;)

  • 2.5 drive doesn't work with my desktop, is anyone having similar problem?

    • No, mine worked fine out of the box…FAT32 is a bit of a nuisance though, formattin' time! ;)

  • In ACT at the Fyshwick store noon today (28/12) they had no 1 TB portables left but will take up to 140 of these on back order. Also had about 200 of the 16 GB Lexar’s and 16 GB Toshiba USB sticks that are both being sold for same price of $19.

  • Just went to HN Knox and they are taking Raincheck Orders for the 1T and 2T so I placed an order and they will call in a week when more stock comes in, so this price is still good for anyone who has missed out.

  • this is sold out in Auburn one now.
they only had the 650gb on sale that i could see

  • No luck in SA :(
Sold out on 1st day open from the long break!
Wondering how they advertise in catalogue and sold out in first few hrs, and not take raincheck.
    Poor service!

    • Try a backorder. I did this at Chirnside Park, Vic, as they had run out. They checked their orders and another 70+ are due.

      • I asked for backorder and raincheck too but the girl (at Woodville) told me once the stock is gone they won't get any more in as it's limited offer. But thanks to Gary they may get me 1 (due to public holiday I haven't receive an email from the store yet).

  • 3 x 2.5" 1tb left at Belrose HN when I left @ 3.30pm this afternoon. 2tb 3.5" all sold out.

  • Price matched the WD 500GB deal for $66 that was in Good Guys, Chadstone at OfficeWorks…

Good Guys had sold out the lot but had a picture of the deal from the day before and Officeworks did it for $63..

  • can i replace my MBP HDD with this one?

    • I did a quick google and it's too small for the unibodies but may work in the old 17"s. I'm trying tonight!

      • how did it go?

        • Not well - USB soldered and almost have to break the enclosure to open (not completely, but still). Wish they'd put something into the packaging letting you know when they're not usable in a different enclosure.

  • Rain checked a 1T & 2T at Corydon park (Sydney) store, will pack up later!

    • Croydon Park? or Wiley Park?

  • You are right, at Wiley Park

  • just went to HN Cannington and they selling the 2tb WD for $99
while the 1.5 tb for 134 <_<, there like 20ish left for the 2tb one

    • Lucky you! I preferred WD over Samsung any day.

  • Just got one from Greensborough HN, had like 50 there i reckon. U dont reckon u can open these up and put them in a laptop? or are they different to a normal 2.5 Drive? Does it have SATA Connection?

    • +2

As my comment says five points up above yours, you can't put it in a laptop, it's got the USB port soldered onto the drive. It's difficult to open the case without damaging it, so take my word for it and don't end up sad faced like me!

      • Thanks for the heads-up saine! :)

  • Just picked up my rainchecked hdd.

Manufacturing date is 23/12/2010, how is that even possible??

    • Elves; they even work right up til the 24th! ;)

  • Just pick up at harvey Liverpool. Still some left, according to the salesman new stock just arrived as had to go to the storeroom to get some…
Nice Looking Black small hardrive with a leather pouch included and some auto-backup softwares (& standard USB cable of course)

  • Back in stock HN Chirnside Park, Vic, but listed marked down from $190 to $129.
