Rock Band 3 for $49 at JB Hi-Fi (Online Free Freight) + Rock Band 2 Tracks ($7.5)

110

Rock Band 3 is the best music game ever made.
I was very excited when it was released, especially for the pro mode, with the new keyboard and the possibility to play with a real guitar (Fender Squier to be released in march).

$49 for the game only, at JB Hifi not a bad price (price valid both online and in store). I bought the XBox 360 version by price matching at EB Games as I had some store credit.

But the best is to come.
Starting with Band Hero and Rock Band 2, you can import tracks from other Band games you owned.

I't possible on Rock Band 3 too. However, on XBox 360, the process differs a little bit as you can import Rock Band 2 tracks (in fact re-download them), but you don't even have to insert Rock Band 2 so you just need the code that came with Rock Band 2 (you start the import from Rock Band 3).

If you have "lost" that code, you can contact EA Support http://support.ea.com/ and they'll be happy to give you a new one. You still need to "buy" the export download which is 800 points (approx $12.5).
That's what I did… I didn't even have Rock Band 2 which was not released downunder… contacted EA Support and got a key, paid the 800 points and now, for $49 + $12.5, got Rock Band 3 with 153 songs.

Haa, you can combine with the Games Plus $10 offer http://gamesplus.com.au/ to get a 1500 points card for $14.5, which will bring the cost of exporting Rock Band 2 tracks down to $7.5

lol you are still excited from the looks of it.

  • Nice one, thanks.

  • bought this, and upvoted.

unrelated to the bargain, but one thing that's disappointing with rb3 is how they removed the feature of online head to head battle - everyone must use different instruments online and play as a band.

  • is this $49 in store?

  • Does anyone know if you can use the PS3 Rockband 1 instruments with PS3 Rockband 3?

    • Most likely so - except for with the Keyboard, as that's new to the Rock Band franchise.

      • Seems it is. Got one, great deal.

  • Sweet, thanks for this. I was about to buy it at launch but decided to wait as they said that the midi to edrum adapter was delayed till next year, so I wanted to see if it drops in price first. At this price I might buy it now.

It's $49 both online and in store, I called JB and they still had stock (2 left at Strathpine for example). And as I said others like EB are price matching. That's not super cheap yet, but a good price for a game released not long ago. Not sure how EA will react though if they are flooded with emails from people having "lost" their Rock Band 2 code… so better get in quick while they are still giving a replacement code for free! (By the way, I tried for the XBox version but should work for the Playstation as well, if anyone has tried to get a replacement code for PSN can confirm?)

    How to export tracks http://www.rockband.com/support/export-rock-band

With 153 very good tracks, most of them with a "pro" drum mode and almost half of them with a "pro" keyboard and guitar mode, that's a solid package!

All instruments from Rock Band are compatible http://www.rockband.com/compatibility

I've got the instruments from Band Hero (Guitar Hero franchise) and the wireless microphones from Lips and it's working flawlessly
