Beautiful, looking forward to trying this coffee, heard good things! =)

  • I will buy 2 packs, can you please tell me though how long does the pre-ground stuff stay fresh for? I use in Sunbeam coffee machine but I do not have good grinder, only a crappy old one with no options to set the consistency so I would rather buy preground.

Also, is it a nice strong coffee? I like my coffee rich and strong with a bit of milk.

    • Do yourself a favour and invest in a quality grinder like the 'mazzer mini'. A quality grinder is more important than your coffee machine imho. Also you should look at roasting your own beans, for a even 'fresher' coffee experience!

      • lol.. just looked that up and its over $700. This machine was only $200-$250 if I recall correctly. I dont have that sort of money to spend I would only spend upto $100 on a grinder.

You need a conical burr grinder. The Sunbeam EM0450 would be perfect for you but the RRP is $139 according to the Sunbeam website (strange though that Myer shows it at $159 and an ebay listing shows it at $154 plus delivery). I'm sure you can haggle below that, unless you can find it on special somewhere.

If I didn't already have enough beans I would be all over this. Hoping you have a deal when I am in need of more. Keen to try your blends. Great work James.

  • Is it any better than the beans from Toby's Estate or Campos?

Nice, looking forward to giving the Forte a try

It is real buy one get one free for 'Forte', but you have to pay 5.9 postage if you buy 250g and get another 250g for free.

I prefer seeing and buying coffee beans in the city.

    • just to clarify, buy one bag and its $5.90 postage as normal. Buy a second bag (or get one free in this promo), and you dont pay any more postage for that 2nd bag. Delivery is at discounted AusPost rates.

Wasn't it Super Crema yesterday? Are you changing the promo bean daily?

    • Yes, the deal was updated at 3am this morning, but its likely to remain the same now until the deal expires.

  • yes why has it changed, and I would appreciate an answer to my question on how long the preground stays fresh for..

Dont think I will buy now anyway because i thought it was free shipping

    • sorry I missed your earlier post. Like Lovedeals and Antman suggest, fresh ground at home is best, but pre-ground is a great alternative to investing in a grinder.

As a guide, supermarket preground coffee can be 12 months old before you buy it - our coffee is ground fresh the day you buy it, so your ahead already. I would say 1 month is ideal, but I know of people that have kept preground coffee for 3-6 months. Its completely upto your taste.

I have a section with more detail at http://www.baybeans.com.au/how-to.html

Also, is it a nice strong coffee? I like my coffee rich and strong with a bit of milk.

This coffee, Forte is stronger than the previous one that was on offer. there are descriptions at http://www.baybeans.com.au/shop.html
"A strong coffee with refined acidity, subtle cocoa texture, gentle spice flavors and a sweet aftertaste.". Since you like milk based drinks, it will cut through milk very nicely.

      • And keep all coffee (beans or pre-ground) in the freezer for maximum life.

    • I would make an educated guess and say that if you really want to feel great aroma buy green coffee (2-3 times cheaper than roasted), roast it yourself (e.g. with popcorn popper $25-45), store it away for a week in a one-way-valve container (69c each), grind it, make it, drink it and come back here to post a result ;- )

That’s unless roasted coffee that is for sale have a date of the crop and date of the roast.

      • where do you buy green coffee to roast yourself

      • You got it right Jet! Thats the way i do it!

  • And to answer about the pre-ground:
Coffee should not be ground more than 2 minutes before brewing or major staling (oxidation) begins to take place © http://www.coffeeresearch.org/coffee/grinding.htm

well thats a shame but surely being in these special bags it would stay fresh. Until I can get a grinder I will just buy preground stuff. I might have to go to a shop though because I dont like paying shipping, kills the deal a bit.

  • Excellent. I needed a reason to buy some good quality beans. Thanks for dropping the postage cost as well.

    • Added half price flat rate delivery today - let me know if you like the idea compared to calculated rates.

      • I only wanted to buy two bags, but the shipping has gone up from $5.90 to $7.90??

I can see how the flat rate would be beneficial to people placing larger orders, but I like my coffee fresh and I don't get through all that many beans!

        • try again now Marlboro. I have removed the flat rate delivery for use in a future promo.

      • Ack, was about to order, decided to wait until some guys got back to the office to see if they wanted in on my order, and the flat rate disappears! Grr…

        • Haha! The flat rate delivery will be available again from 2:30 today (was just to give a few people a chance to complete their orders). Thanks.

        • All fixed, ordered 2Kgs. Thanks.

  • the Shipping and handling cost $7.9 is that correct?

    • Yes, for as much as you would like to order.

  • any chance I can order 1 preground and get a whole bean free?? That way the whole beans can stay fresh while i use the preground first.

    • Please email me after you place your order online and I will take care of it. (use the contact form on the Contact page)
