The Good Guys Cash Back Varying % Means What?

Intrigued why GG cash back % range from 1.7% up to 3.2%, I assume this roughly equates to their profit margin?
I’ve noticed this on other Cash Back stores too. E.g. Dan Murphy’s have a 3.5% cash back on wine, versus 2% on spirits.
Opinions please re why a tiered cash back versus a flat rate?

Hi Oakok. In all honesty, I'm an advocate for single tiers across all merchants as it simplifies everything for members. The truth of the matter is however that some merchants choose to provide different rates across different products and/or categories for reasons they generally don't share with us. Some of the merchants with a tiered structure of rates are The Good Guys, Expedia, BWS, Dan Murphy's, Amaysim, Vodafone, STA, SurfStitch, Appliances Online, and so on. When onboarding new merchants, our preference is and always will be single tier, but unfortunately we're at the mercy of the stores. Thanks.
