        • lol u cant expect much more , especially on a ozbargain site ;)

        • But looking on here (http://www.jbhifi.com.au/games/sony/play-station/ps3/) there's the 160GB pack for $499 with "$185 of added value" so deduct that and you get around $314. And this is for the 160GB model too.

Looks like you can get the TV alone as above for $594, but you couldn't get the rest for $203 surely. :)

      • +1

and the PS3 retails for $500……

        • +7

no one on this website is dumb enough to pay $500 for a PS3

    • +1

I want the HDMI cable, i'll pay 50c, give me a shout.

  • damn, so tempting….

  • +1

If I didn't just buy a 32" LCD a couple of months ago I'd be all over this.

    • I bought one on boxing day…. now I'm wishing I had waited. I just want a PS3!!

      • check the returns policy for your previous TV lolz :-)

  • how long is this deal gonna last? i got it so i wont regret it if it sells out quick like that netbook deal at OW for $199, yeah i missed it too.

    • says it will close off tomorrow night with free delivery… i'm still umming and ahhhing about it.. wonder how much I could sell the TV for.. or I could sell the non FULL HD LG tv and replace that..

      AAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!

      • -1

Dont worry it will be replaced with an even better one soon!

        • Do tell more, Nostradamus ;-)

  • Can someone please clarify all this talk about 50hz on the tv?

What are the pros and cons?

    • -1

      acording to this review http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/2712595/sony_bravia…

Even though this HDTV is 60Hz, I can't tell that it isn't a 120Hz television because there is virtually little to no blur with major action sequences appearing on the screen. Sony must have done something to offset the fact that this unit is missing a 120Hz refresh rate.

Even though its a us review it should still be the same TV
in the US there 60hz is our 50 and there 120hz is our 100 :)

      • I got a new plasma thats not 120Hz and watch motor sport etc and dont see motion blur, I think that problems long gone with current technology and high refresh rates on the LCD panels.

        • If your TV is 100Hz then watching 50Hz Australian TV is fine because the TV doesn't have to alter the feed at all to match the source.

    • +1

      My post above…

What will you be using the TV for? If has a 24p playback mode for Blurays and Australian TV is in 50 Hz anyway. If you connect a console, set it to 50Hz and it’ll look fine. A higher refresh rate does not always mean a smoother picture. Higher refresh rates on TVs means that for content that doesn't match the refresh rate of the TV, extra frames are inserted - depending on the content, this can look good or look bad. That being said, if the refresh rate is a multiple of the source, the playback will look smooth.

As a side note, you might have issues using the panel as PC monitor (depends on what your video card can do).

Sucks thats theres no inbuild hd tuner :P Anyone recommend me a good set top box? preferably under 200

      • +4

        It has a tuner.

        • +4

There is a built in Full HD Tuner, you cant buy any TV's these days without one. lol

        • oh LMAO i thought there wasnt one, started researching to find one ! saves me money, more i can spend on ps3 games! xD

      • +3

Where does it say there's no tuner??

  • Interested in buying a PS3 alone, so anyone in southwest Sydney (e.g. Carnes Hill, Liverpool area) or around Moore Park who just wants the TV get in contact with me.

    • +1

What price are you willing to pay? .. buyers are looking for $250-300 but sellers wants $350 and i'm one of those sellers, i would rather keep it then sell it too cheap They are for sale on ebay for $400++

      • +2

Harvey Norman sell the 160GB for $398, so asking a similar price for the 120GB is a bit silly IMHO. Check the HN website for the price. $300-320 is a reasonable price for a 120GB brand new.

        • +2

Dick Smith sell the ps3 120gb for $349. Big w is also doing the same tv with the blu ray player package for $698.

      • On the other end of the spectrum there was the toys r us deal where they were selling for under $200! I think $300 is a reasonable ask, and a hassle free trade. :)

  • +3

Well. I caved. I'm sure a deal this good won't come up for some time, and despite me not needing either of the items, it is a definite "nice to have".

So I guess it's instant noodle lunches for awhile to make up for it!

  • Anyone in Adelaide looking to sell a PS3?

  • Do BIGW do extended warranty on this TV?

    • doubt it…

  • +3

This is driving me crazy. I came to the point of entering credit card number but already have one TV at home. Damn Ozbargain!

    • If I hadn't already bought a PS3, I'd have bought this and used the 32" as a bedroom TV (I Have a 50" plasma in the lounge).

    • Wahhh I'm the same! Just bought a new house and have been spending crazy, but we need a second tv in the family room…am not totally sold on the silver on the bottom part of the bezel though (yeah I know its very finicky!)

      • i would sell the tv for $500 as only want the ps3, in Melbourne if interested

  • +1

Sorry to say I have caved in :( :) :( :) mixed feeling.

  • anyone in syd like to sell ps3 around 300 please contact me ^^

  • My colleague called up a couple of stores and they got told they had no 120gb PS3 so were giving Bluray players with it instead?
I wonder if you buy online if it'd be the same..

    • +5

They can shove it if thats the case, its advertised as a PS3, so they can supply me a PS3 160 gig if they have no 120s in stock.

      • -1

Yep they must supply a 160GB PS3 if they cant provide you a PS3 120GB .. if they dont have it they shouldnt be trying to sell it. simple as that and for a store as big as Big W .. sorry about the pun, things like this shouldnt happen.

    • +2

They'd have to contact you and ask about that, either that or cancel the order.

      • Yeah it would be a rip off if they changed the order to a bluray player. If they contact me about it i'm going to cancel the order ASAP!

        • +3

If they have taken money from my credit card ill hold them to a PS3 as its the law, once the transactions been completed its a done deal, im screwed if they dont complete the credit card transaction, but Ive been screwed enough with Dell to be aware of the law. :)

        • Can you provide more info on this law. This has happened to me before (not BigW) and I just accepted they could cancel the order and refund me. Would be nice if you could legally hold them to supply what they charged you for.

    • +1

There already is a blu ray package with the same tv for $698 so if they swapped it for the same price as for the ps3 package you would be ripped off $100.

Good deal on these also… Dick smith is at $699 and staticice's cheapest is $798

  • Great deal, bought one for $757.15 after staff discount. Heads up for posting this deal!

  • Anyone in melb who doesn't want the either the PS3 or the TV pls PM me!

    • dont want tv, in melb(3041), sell $500

    • +7

why not just buy it from Big W to get both

  • +1

bugger… purchased the Black Ops Prestige from JB Hifi that was on here. Bought the Samsung 32" that was on here from Clive Peeters for $499. I already own a PS3 and Black Ops….. but this one meant I could have played against my kids without split screen!!

  • Not sure whether to get this Sony 32" tv or a Sanyo 40" for $550 from DSE - it was $800ish in November last year. Yes, it's a Sanyo, and they're closing down in Aus in March, but it great reviews everywhere. However, having a 32" FULL HD Sony tv for ~$400 after unloading all the blu rays and the ps3 is mighty tempting. Ahhhh, help?

    • There's a big difference between 32"and 40". Decide on the best screen size and go from there.

For me I'd get the biggest size that would be suitable for the distance you are away from the screen. As a lounge TV a 32"simply wouldn't cut it, no matter how good the image.

      • +1

Yeah, it's for my bedroom. Viewing distance would be about 3-3.5 meters.

        • +2

I'm not an expert, there will be people here that are, or the TV sales people could tell you for sure, but I'd say that that is quite a big distance and for me there is no way I'd settle with a 32", not when 42" are readily available and are well priced. Some would be tempted to get bigger still - 47" maybe even 50".

For me I own a 42" which is plenty big and I would never get smaller in a million years. I could quite happily go bigger although it would be unnecessary.

If you have a lady in your life i'll tell you now she'll want you to get the smaller one.

If it helps, my TV is a 42"Plasma HD - so not full HD. Full HD would of course be better and preferred but I can let you know that there's nothing wrong with normal HD - it really is perfectly wonderful for movies, TV and games. If I were to buy a TV now I'd go Full HD as long as it would be in budget which i think nowadays it would be.

      • +1

my how times have changed. when I was a lad we used to live in cardboard box in middle o' road, watching a 24" CRT round edge TV. And that was in the 90's!

  • Can you enter staff discount for online purchase ?

    • Yes, it worked for me!! comes down to $757.15!!!

  • @tryonthis go with the sony deal, more bang for ur buck from my point of view, i was lookin at getting one of those sanyo tvs as well but after reading a couple of reviews, i thought i'd pay a little extra and get a good brand name, not that sanyo is crap, im not saying that but its not as good as sony abviously, and the 50hz sony has the same quality picture as a 100hz sanyo.

    • Yeah, we have 2 other Sony LCD's in the house (55" and 40") and both are superb quality. Every review I've read online and even on Whingepool say that it's a fairly good TV (the Sanyo, that is). Just trying to work out whether I want a 32" or 40" TV for my bedroom :P

  • It's a pity the blurays are shite, I can't imagine they'd go for much.

  • who else wants a PS3+movies in SA?

  • +6

This is ozbargain people. The ps3 is worth 300, the tv is worth 500, the blurays and hdmi diddly squat.

stop trying rip fellow members off with shite offers.

    • These things go for $400 on ebay minus ebay fees (assuming that they pay by cash or bank deposit) and that's about $385 as it's only about $12.10 in final value fees. Since it's OzBargain and what not an offer of $320-330 is more than reasonable

      • +7

$400 gets you a new 160GB from Harvey Norman according to their website. Ebay is full of fools who pay way too much.

        • +3

precisely. and ozb is far easier to deal with than ebay. both parties should benefit a little.

final value fee yes, what about listing fee, and paypal fee (almost everyone chooses paypal), time spend to create listing etc.

though i agree, 320-330 is reasonable too. i was just saying stop making offers less than 300 and 500 respectively.

        • Older ps3s are more likely to have older firmware on them which makes them worth more if you want to use Homebrew, newer machines might have firmware thats not downgradable hence they are worth more to certain buyers, even more than a new 160gig for $400. You cant say everyones a fool, people will buy based on a number of reasons not just the price.

        • +1

the 3.55 is fully hacked already. old ps3 is, i think, no extra benefit now.

        • lol. absolutely right. I have seen things going far more than the deals available that time in stores. I think few people either keep bidding without searching current rate or the seller bids for himself to hike prices.

        • LOL, you should warn people to make sure they're sitting down & have no prior cardiac history before they click on that link Tomsco…it took my breath away! ;)

  • Any unwanted PS3 please contact me if you are in Sydney metro! Cheers

    • how can we there is no private message system :)

      • Oh bugger, thanks for pointing that out vid_ghost. Let me know through here Cheers

        • Change your settings to accept emails. Done.

    • Thanks for the tip Steptoe

      • if anyone in melb, pls contact me. i'll be interested for ps3

  • +4

Call me crazy but I want BOTH the TV and PS3!

I just purchased I've been waiting for a deal like this for a about a month, thanks op.

  • Just wondering if this package is sold by JB Hifi - if so does anyone know how much?

  • Is this the same PS3 that Toys R Us had for $199 a little while ago?

    • yes - it's a 120gb slim. As of the last month or two they've been selling the 160gb slim as the base model - so there's not much of a difference and the 120gbs are being treated as run out stock. My 120gb does make a high pitched noise whilst playing some disk games, I suspect that the newer models have minor internal improvements although the overall functional specifications remain the same other than a slightly larger hard disk.

For me 120gb is kind of fine. I regularly have to delete demos and game installs as the hard drive gets full, but a 160gb drive would suffer the same issues. It's best and easy to purchase a larger internal hard drive, which i'll do once 2.5" 1TB drives fall in price.

      • +1

1TB won't fit. Probably 640 or maybe 750 will be the biggest (physically) that will fit.

        • Why wouldnt it fit, just because 640/750 doesnt mean the hard drives are literally bigger in size aswell.

        • -3

Any 2.5" drives will fit ;)

        • +6

The 1TB drives are thicker than the normal drives. Still 2.5" wide, but 12.5mm thick as opposed to 9.5mm for the smaller capacities. I think there are now 9.5mm thick 1TB drives, but they are relatively more expensive. Depends on the brand too.

      • +2

what nafe said is true. There are two different thicknesses to the 2.5" drives.

        • Good to know. Still, I'll get one when the thinner 1TB drives drop in price. Guess I might have to wait a while longer.

Unless there's a way to have game demos and installs on an external drive? We might be straying from the topic a little.

  • Willing to pay $300 for the PS3 ($330 to include the blurays) from someone who is getting this package. PM me if you have one to spare.

I work at Wynyard so we could exchange during lunch / after 5. Live in Beecroft.

Also if you are interested: I have a Wii I don't really need (1 yr old, barely used, 2 controllers + 1 motion plus). Could arrange some sort of trade with me paying the residual difference.

  • +1

Speaking of which, ordered mine about 1hr from when the deal was first posted, BigW says its already been shipped! Woo!

    • Wow that's fast. I ordered mine aabout 3 or 4 hours from the posting. I wonder how long it will take to process and ship to Adelaide?

Anyone have any idea how long it should ideally take? I imagine they must be getting a absolute ton of orders. Hope they have the stock to keep up with demand!

  • +8

Anyone want the TV for $800 or the PS3 for $450? lol

This is a good sign of deals to come. Patience people… Don't lose any sleep over this pack.

  • +1

Someone on here just go down to the store in TAIGUM, QLD?

I went down there and they were hurriedly changing their price to 997. I overheard them just sell one to someone for $698! (the same price as the bluray one)

They had 3 price tags, one for the PS3 deal, one for the bluray, and one for the TV alone… ps3 and blurray price where the same. Someone fudged up and therefore someone got a WICKED deal.

PS - turns my first post was a cracker! Thanks for the +VE's!!

    • $220? what a pittance. you can't justify such a low offer.

      • -2

Yeah I can: it's all it's worth to me. I'm not looking for the 200 people who aren't in Bris, aren't interested in a offloading a PS3 to subsidise a tv and don't find my (or anyone else's) offer acceptable.
I'm just curious whether there's one out there who is.
Flame away people, we all have rights!

        • +6

haha what a cunning and devious plan.

except anyone could get the tv by itself for $596 without the hassel of paying $800 and then find time to give you the ps3 for 220.

your sister is worth $10 to me.

        • your sister is worth $10 to me

          ROFL :)

        • Firstly: I should add that I mistakenly misread this package as $698. Oops. Yeah I'm not asking anyone to pay full RRP for the tv and give me a cheap PS3.
Secondly: Great example kimmik. I reject your offer of $10, but respect your right to place whatever value you choose on her virtue. Keep trying and remember: you may have to get through 200 'no's before you find that one elusive $10 maiden.
And she'll be worth every cent…
