  • Is there anyway we can check stock level, anyone? I’m sure I was at BigW Riverton WA few days ago and I didn’t see any

Great price for a phone that ticks these three boxes:
    - Band 28
    - LED notification
    - NFC / Android Pay

    • +9

      Headphone jack too.

      • +11

        Always a bonus.

        • +11

But it shouldn't be a 'bonus'.

    • +1

Agree. Pretty much last gen for Xperia but bargain price for the features.

      • +5

it's last last gen. xa, xa1, newest is xa2

  • +1

Any way to unlock this so I can use it overseas?

    • +3

Yeh I just entered the IMEI on the vodafone website and got the code for free… your mileage may vary.

    • +1

I bought 4 of these last year (the $99 with $30 credit deal at coles).
1 of them unlocked for free from the voda site.
      3 of them required a $50 payment.

  • +2

Here's the page for unlocking it: https://unlock.vodafone.com.au/voila/handsetunlock/self-serv…

    I don't know if there's a fee or anything.

    • If you’ve had your device for less than 6 months there’s a $50 unlocking fee.

If you’ve had your device for over 6 months there’s a $25 unlocking fee.

      • +2

I don't know if that actually applies for this phone.

I got it for $139 a year ago and was able to enter it into the Vodafone website, getting the code for free.

        • Definitely worth a try first on the Vodasite in case it's free. From memory there were two different batches with

different numbers on the box for these. One unlocked/free to unlock, one $25, some even Full $50.

I got two of these over last 16 months, one from Target first that was free to unlock on site straight away.

Second one from Woolworths and was $25 straight away without waiting six months.

Something to consider if you find one - it's not a cheap unlock if you get a locked handset

    • Can you Ebay an unlock?

      • +1

You can, but it still costs $25

        • I got mine unlocked for $5.02

          @Tiggrrrrr:

Wow, can you share a link to help others please?

  • +2

Looks like it's got 2G RAM.

    Reviews are mixed.

    Here's the CNet review.

MobileCiti is selling it for $199 (unlocked).

  • Will Kogan sim work on this phone without unlocking? Kogan uses Vodafone network.

    • +1

I've used a locked vodafone phone with a kogan sim card and it worked. However i can't comment on if it would work for this phone.

    • +1

      Yeh Kogan sims would work.

Source : I used Kogan for 12 months on this phone.

    • +1

yes i have it on a kogan sim. its a nice premium looking phone, bargain at this price thought it does slow up a lot when its loaded up with apps.

    • Yes, I used 3 x $0 kogan sims on 3 x locked Xperia XA phones last year and they were fine.

  • I got my phone unlocked on ebay for less than $3. And it worked :)

    • +2

      care to share?

      • No need to pay $3.

I got mine from Target a year ago now and didn't have to pay a cent whilst using the Vodafone website.

        • +1

You are lucky. I got a Sony Xperia M 4 years ago from Target, and Vodafone still would like to charge me $25 unlocking fee when I tried it recently.

        • See my comment above.

    • This particular phone, from vodafone?

  • +2

probably one of the nicest looking phones around but so sloooooow…..

    • Good price. Paid nearly double that some time ago. Agreed, it's a little slow but good enough for my mum. She uses it for Facebook and calls. She's happy with it.

    • Agreed - got one from Woolies @ $99, unlocked for $25 after 7 months, then sold it for $150. Not a bad outcome but the phone is rubbish, I was expecting something that worked from Sony. Painfully slow and poor touch sensitivity. Very nice screen plus other features as discussed above though.

  • Bought this phone when Target had it for pretty cheap… it's been one of the more frustrating phones I've owned. Think I've had it for a year now: power button isn't responsive at times; apps sometimes very slow to load or crashes often; SD card is corrupted, but phone won't let me format it; lots of bloatware.

I do find the phone good for internet browsing though. Camera is serviceable in good light. For the price, it's certainly worth the risk, but don't be surprised if it goes a bit wack.

    • That's horrible considering how much it costed when it was released. I think it was $300 unlocked.

  • 2gb Ram & 2.3A battery ? Definitely not a performer

  • Insufficient quantity. Ie none.

Normal price at Vodafone is $149.

  • lot of unlock Xperia XAs selling on ebay

  • good spec but frustrating phone - have to keep restarting to find the internet ….. at$99 probably worth the hassel though

  • +1

Bluetooth drains the battery like crazy on mine. Device is slow-ish, but you have to remember the chipset is the equivalent of a SD425 so it was never going to be blazing fast. 16gb isn't enough, I only have a few apps and all my photos go to SD and I'm sitting at 90% used.

    • They still make 16GB phones now?

      • It's a phone from 2 years ago.

  • Nice little phone, good hand feel too. No good for cardboard though, gyro isn’t fully functioning

    • Doesn't have a gyro. So none of those apps will work, nor will Hungas shake n win app. Surely a compulsory ozbargain feature!

      • I’ve actually got a spare, picked up at Christmas thinking we’d use it. Probably going to take back to Woolworths unopened, bought it for 129

        • +1

lol let us know if they accept a return after that long.

        • +1

          @CVonC:
Popped it on facebook and someone picked it up for 150,

  • These phones are $99 @ Kmart also.

I picked up a couple in Caloundra yesterday and they came bundled with genuine covers.
