Hi OzBargain,

A quick update from me.

The negative feedback in this post has made a few things clear to me.

  • If more than one person is upset - it's my fault
  • Pushing promotions and marketing is not worthwhile if ALL customers are not being serviced to a high standard

I am deeply sorry for anyone who has had a bad customer experience with me. Please know I am willing to make it right for anyone who is unsatisfied. Reach out to me anytime!

I will humbly take the responsibility here and listen to the community and redirect my time from promoting on OzBargain to developing my operations and refining the service I provide. Fortunately, we have had very positive feedback and growth in other marketing channels so OzBargain has been a sort of bonus for us, but it's not worthwhile unless everyone is getting a good service! And that's my responsibility.

I will be ceasing all promotions for now on OzBargain until things have been improved on my end.

:) Thank you to everyone who has supported me positively and I hope to see you guys all again sometime in the future.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any queries or concerns! You can message Kris on Facebook Chat or email me directly at [email protected].

Wish you all the best!
-Aidan

  • Hey guys,

I'll be here to answer any questions so fire away!

    Cheers,
    -Aidan

  • REP, can you please clarify this statement:

Hotspot/Tethering is allowed in mobile devices only

So can you tether? What can you not do? Tether to a laptop?

    • Hey Make it,

Yeah its difficult to word this one.

You can only use the SIM in your mobile phone. It simply cannot be used in other devices like wifi devices.

You can tether to any device you wish as long as you aren't planning on using it through a wifi device.

Hope that clarifies for ya :)

      Cheers,
      -Aidan

      • So you can put it in your mobile phone and use your mobile phone as hotspot for a laptop or any other device?

But they can detect if you use it in a WiFi modem, and do not permit it?

        • Exactly! Spot on.

Any ideas how I can reword it for the description?

          Cheers,
          -Aidan

        • @SimsDirect: Well, it kind of depends on how exactly they classify the device; I imagine they prevent tethering from any device which is not voice-enabled (?). Perhaps say "not for use in 4G WiFi modem - will not work".

        • @Make it so:
          Will do.

          Thanks!

  • Can you do 40% off USA too? :)

    • +1

      Haha

      I wish I could!

The US SIM will never be discounted below 30% due to wholesale margins.

      Cheers,
      -Aidan

      • Any chance you can do 1 more of the USA sims for me at the old price? I bought 2 during the last deal but realised I need one more. Pretty please with a cherry on top? :)

        • +4

          Haha! Yeah no worries!

          I'll PM you a code.

Just because you asked nicely (with cherries).

          -Aidan

  • So this can only be used to make calls and send texts to other European countries, not back home to Australia?

What happens if someone in Aus calls this sim in Europe, how are charges handled at both ends? Thanks.

    • Spot on.

The SIM cannot call Australia without additional international credit. I have added the information in the description for topups.

I believe it will not go through without extra credit uploaded. The person calling you would be charged a flagfall fee (amount depends on carrier they use).

10 pound would get you 333 minutes of calls to Astralia (3pence/minute).

      Hope that helps,
      -Aidan

  • +1

Great price and just bought 2. We have used this sim for 3 years now for when we go back home to Italy each year and it works great throughout the rest of Europe too, thanks!

    • Awesome!

Great to hear the positive feedback Breaker!

Thanks so much for your order :)
      -Aidan

  • Any chance of a deal on the 5GB SIMs that Three UK offer?

    • +1

      hi sween,

We don't currently offer that SIM card. We feel it doesn't provide the same value as it really isn't much cheaper for us to buy compared to the 12GB.

If 12GB is too much, you might be able to pick up a 5GB one from Ebay.

      Thanks for the comment!
      -Aidan

  • Already answered sorry

    • No worries my man!

      Have a good one :)

List of users who've had problems with Sims Direct (mainly deliveries not arriving on time or being cancelled AFTER they should have been delivered):
    D B
    kiwipride
    swineey
    altomic
    kiwipride again
    Dave77
    ozpanda
    min c
    strayan - poor service
    maxwellian
    unique452

There's also been problems with the same person not delivering within time under another name, So Easy Travel as stated here.

    Buyer beware.

    • +1

Totally agree with this, I found them very unprofessional - would look at other companies or use your googling powers to find and order this product yourself. For example, Sim Corner offers the same product for only a few dollars more and in my personal experience they were much more reliable and transparent.

      Hi Bradley,

I really don't understand your wish to hurt my reputation and put on display unhappy customers when you aren't even a customer yourself.

I have made some mistakes yes, but mistakes are normal and apart of any business.

All customers who have had bad experiences have been apologised to and refunded in full.

I take my business seriously so I understand that it takes time smooth out operations to better customer experience, and that's what will happen.

There are numerous more customers who are happy with my customer service so I hope that you can try to understand that.

I wish you nothing but peace Bradley.

      -Aidan

      • +1

        Hi Aidan,

There's a reason that I'm not one of your customers, it's because if I order a travel sim I need it to arrive on time, and based on the experiences of previous customers it'd be a gamble.

If me sharing the experiences of your past customers is "hurting your business" you should ensure the sims arrive on time and customers don't have problems, which shouldn't be hard to do since you ask for the departure date.

I wish travellers nothing but peace Aidan.

        -Bradley

          Hi Bradley,

You seem like a very negative person.

I wish you the best, I hope you can look up in the future.

          Sincerely,
          -Aidan

      • +2

I can only hope he isn't a customer thanks to the warnings posted by users like myself that your deceit has affected. Additionlly you are posting lies here, I received no such refund as you have claimed that all persons have?

If you need to smooth out things then you don't need to be pushing out a advertising/publicity plan such as these 'promotions' until such things are sorted out.

Also yay, I got included :D Go Bradley!

        • Hey Max,

Refunds were issued to anyone who did not receive their SIM cards. I believe you received yours.

Your issue was about the email campaign that went out to you with misleading prices correct?

Ive responded to your old comment with an update about that last month.

About our promotions. We need to be consistently posting promotions and marketing to bring in new customers for the business to grow. Very important for any business. If we are causing more harm than good then I will happily cease all outbound marketing until our operations can support it.

Let me know if there is anything I can do for you.

          Thanks for the feedback.
          -Aidan

      • +3

I have made some mistakes yes, but mistakes are normal and apart of any business.

Aidan - "Hi Ozbargain, I'm selling a product"
Ozbargain - "great, I'll buy it."
        Aidan - "sorry, I don't have it"
Ozbargain - "what?! but you said you have it"
        Aidan - " you don't understand, stop"

        this is not normal.

    • I also had an issue and raised it directly with the seller

I sincerely hope they are now only selling items they have in stock (200 in this case)

      • +1

EDIT - also appears cheaper elsewhere (on this site)

        • +2

That doesn't surprise me with the prices they charge, in the last deal for Japan sims I noticed that it's the same price from the manufacturer, including shipping, but the shipping was flat rate so buying more than one from the manufacturer would save you quite a bit.

As for you having issues with them as well, I plan on posting the list on all their future 'bargains' as a warning to potential customers, is it alright if I add you to the list?

    • I haven't received mine as well. Ordered 3 weeks ago

      • Hey blkx,

What’s your order number? I can check up on it for you.

If you have not received it then it could be an Australia Post issue as we are up to date on orders.

If you don’t wish to publicly post your order number you can email me at [email protected] to resolve it.

        Thanks!
        -Aidan

  • +1

I plan on being in the UK/Europe for 7 weeks, so best to just topup at end of 30 days?

    • +1

      hi Jtrappett,

It is cheaper to buy multiple SIMs and switch them out instead of recharging (if you don't mind changing your mobile number).

SO if that'sok I would recommend that :)

Otherwise yes, you can top up after the first 30 days with ding.com and renew your bundle!

      Cheers,
      -Aidan

      • Ok…thanks.

        • No worries

          -Aidan

  • Thanks!
    -Aidan

  • Are you guys TravelSimsDirect?

    • hi MustResistPurchase,

No we aren't, I only found out about them a few days after I purchased my domain (saw them in google). SO similar name but different companies.

I believe they are now called Roammobility.

      Cheers,
      -Aidan

  • +2

We used these on our trip recently and had no issues with the coverage. The activation process was also very simple, pretty much dummy proof. Would definitely buy again in the future.

    • Hi 7neniv,

Thanks for the feedback! Glad to hear it worked out.

      Much love!
      -Aidan

  • my sister is having problems topping this sim up after 30 days - any advice on best way to do it while in italy ?

    • +1

      Hi Vinella,

Is she using ding.com or trying to do it directly with ThreeUK?

      Thanks,
      -Aidan

      • she tried https://www.three.co.uk/My3Account/Login but it needs a uk address to pay it ?

        • +1

          Hi Vinella,

Yeah the MY3 account will not work for top ups. ThreeUK (for legal reasons) can’t take payments from non-eu customers.

Your sister can use ding.com as a work around. (Link in the description)

Give that a shot and let me know how you go!

          Hope that helps,
          -Aidan

        • @SimsDirect:

          thank you

          • she managed to top up with ding (for a small added fee)

its showing up as "In queue" on the https://www.three.co.uk/ website, but hopefully it will kick in soon.

        • @vinella:
          Ok great!

Please make sure your sister goes to her MY3 account and uses the 20 pound credit to ‘activate’ a bundle.

          What I mean is.

If you purchase 20 pound and do nothing. The 20 pound is stored as credit and will be used as pay as you go credit.

If you wish to use it as a bundle, you need to go to your account and redeem the ‘all-in-one-20’ bundle. With the credit.

The AIO20 bundle is what you originally had on the SIM. 12GB data + 3000 calls/texts

Let me know if you have any issues working it out.
          -Aidan

  • If I get one of these for myself for travel to UK and Europe and one for the person I'm travelling with, will calls from one sim to the other be included in the 3000 minutes and 3000 texts to European numbers?

    • Hi max,

Yes correct! You can call each other and it counts as a ‘European’ number.

      So for example.

Even if you are in a non-EU country but you wish to call each other, you can. As both SIMs are UK numbers (+44).

      Hope that helps!
      -Aidan

  • Does this work in Hawaii? What's the difference between the USA sim and this one besides the 3.5G v 4G LTE?

    • Yes it will work in hawaii.

The USA SIM comes with unlimited calls and texts to US numbers. And also unlimited international texts.

On top of that the US sim provides a faster internet speeds than this UK SIM.

      Hope that helps!
      -Aidan
