Galax (60NNH7DSL9C3) 3G GTX 1060 OC PCI-E VGA Card $289 @ MSY

180

Saw this while looking at this deal but since it's not in the title many people would've not seen it. There is an Asus card avaible here The Galax has better cooling, more fans and a bigger card where as the asus might be a little bit easier to return and has some more connectors.
Thanks to this comment he explains the difference better.

    Great deal for current market, would have been even better if it was 6GB :D
    Well hopefully the price will go down soon and we can see GPU prices like pre 2017

    • would have been even better if it was 6GB

      Why stop there? I think it would have been better if it were 10GB!

        Would be handy of a 10GB one existed.

    Lol I wouldn't touch that galax when there is an Asus.

      Why? I have a Galax card and it's great.

        Warranty is generally a pita, off I'm assuming galax is a rebrand of galaxy cards.

        • Exactly the same brand I'm pretty sure.

        • The warranty lies with the retailer and they have the same warranty periods. Had a 980ti for a while with no issues

        • @Lockster: they all use the same silicon and are made on automated production lines that make stuff in volume.

          warranty ….. i had to send back a DOA tp-link $230 router ….was doa, worked for 15 mins, went unresponsive and leds faded ….power pack was ok.

          this required me to raise an rma with tplink and provide to seller so they get a replacement.

          the tp link phone line for rma requires the customer to press “1” every 2 minutes or the call is dropped …..you can’t just go on hold with hands free until they pick up your call …..it took over 36 minutes and 18 press 1 to stay on line actions …..

          warranty is often more about the store taking care of these problems and you get a new one rather than depending on manufacturer warranty process.

        • @garage sale: ahhh ok thanks for that.

          @garage sale:

          they all use the same silicon

          That may be true for true nVidia reference cards but certainly is not true for bespoke designs where they only buy chips and circuitry then build their own cards and coolers and power supply etc. Chips could be binned of different quality levels. That's why you tend to find ASUS/EVGA have better ASIC ratings for overclocking meaning lower voltages, temps and longer life in general. Warranty is a big consideration but it's false to claim they're all the same cards.

          @garage sale:

          They use the same silicon, yes, but there's a lot more to a graphics card than the core and ram die. Parts like voltage regulators, mosfets, secondary integrated circuits, PCB material and SMD components are sourced by the manufacture of the card, not Nvidia. The layout of the components and the way they transfer heat are also up to the manufacturer.

          These components are the ones that usually fail before the GPU or RAM themselves.

          All of that said, Galax doesn't have a bad name. They just don't spend as much as Asus on advertising.

    same warranty warning as ever - MSY are the real pits.

    • Heard a lot about their service but the one in Perth I went to was ok. Bought a pair of HyperX headphones from them, used for 2-3 weeks, it had some problem with the noise, brought it back and straight refund was given.
