The irony: owners feeding their animals pet food pretending to be medicine.
I'm surprised the descriptions of exacting nutritional plans which are so exacting that you can feed them to cats as well didn't tip people off to this scam.
As per @Sidor's comment above, we have also been buying Renal cat food from PerCircle for about 2 years now, since our Burman cat started with kidney disease at about 16 years old. Re nutritional plans being a scam, well, our moggie was hospitalised and did nearly die on us 2 years back, and once he was diagnosed with kidney problems, and we had switched from whiskas senior (11+) to Royal Canin and hills Renal foods (He really does not like the Hills stuff), all his problems and sickness went away for us. So I would not agree that a restricted diet is a scam in our case. script diet are scam like apart with the prices they charge for specific diets. I do not see our cat food as medicine, it is food that limits renal issues.

The main cause of that is feeding them dry food.
Dry food from the very same companies peddling "prescription diets".
pet food pretending to be medicine.
That's because the pet food industry is unregulated, they can make pretty much anything up.
And if their food is contaminated or kills pets they don't have to tell anyone or recall the product.
