A workmate just purchased this TV for $870 delivered in Sydney. Bing Lee stores may still have stock but it looks like their online warehouse has just run out of stock today. They were out of stock two weeks ago but got a shipment in last week. Looks like they are moving a lot of units!

They offered me a price of $834 last Friday if we picked up from the Guildford (Sydney) warehouse.

42" is $799 at HN if anyone is interested.

    • The one at HN is the THP42X20A model which is only HD. The U20 is FULL HD.

So $870 is after negotiation, also says it's out of stock.

    good price, but receipt available?

(easier for ozbargain folks to get same deal if there's something they can take in to a store to get the same price)

'+ vote on the assumption others can get it.

    • yes can you scan receipt, quiker/easier to negotiate

  • I need a receipt to try some stores in Perth.

  • Sorry for the delay, my workmate was calling in to Bing Lee on the way home today to pay for the TV and to organise delivery for tonight. I'll speak to him tomorrow at work and see if he can scan his receipt.

I used the Bing Lee online chat service last Friday and negotiated the price of $834 very easily if I was prepared to pick up the TV or I could pay $45 extra for delivery. When Bill called the Bing Lee Carlingford store today they offered the price of $870 including delivery from the store instead of their warehouse.

Seems like a lot were sold over the weekend, but the online chat can check store stocks. The advertised price on their website is $888. They received more stock last week after selling out the week before.

  • still cant convince myself to go for Plasma over LED

  • i STILL think plasma tv has better picture quality than LCD or LED tv and Panasonic is the best of plasma. This price is excellent!

  • It also has a 5 star energy rating.

Bing Lee have these TVs back in stock again now.

    • …and out of stock again a day later :(

  • yeah plasma definitely wins hands down i think.
LED will only be good in a brightly lit room. but when you seen heaps of pictures, plasma is over LED lit LCD's and I think DLP's look better than plasmas, but there are no DLP flat panels to exist.

People often look at the bright image and think it's amazing, generally viewing angles lack, picture is too bright, and contrast lacks compared to plasma bigtime. Watch the tvs in a dark room watching a movie, and wait for a dark scene. see how much the screen appears to be lit up.

I can't comment on the U series as I've never seen, but V series and G series are definitely impressive. Not as much as the pioneer kuros that a few of us have, or use to own until the size lacked, but Panasonic definitely would be my choice.

    • I have a DLP tv, picture quality looks great, which is why I haven't got a new tv yet, but the glare from the sunlight is pretty bad, as with the viewing angle.

  • Just got this. Haggled down to $830 (can scan and post receipt if anyone is interested but honestly I'm sure you can get the same price by just mentioning it) and picked up myself from Guildford. Just a little note: I told the saleman that I had a regular sedan and he assured me that the box would fit and waved me off… well it didn't. The warehouse guy used some colourful language to describe the sales staff and noted they were always doing this kind of thing. In the end we ended up unboxing it in the parking lot and I took the naked TV home which I was glad to do because I live nearby… otherwise though you'll be hit with a $45 delivery charge which wouldn't make this deal very good. The box didn't fit only very slightly, so if you have an SUV or maybe a large sedan you should be fine, or of course, you could just unbox like I did… hope this helps

    • If you could post a receipt that would be great - thanx

      • Dont worry about posting a receipt. Went to Bing Lee Bennetts Green with a print out of the specs. Must have looked like i did lots of research, cause he asked me what the best price i got was. I said $834, he said $810, i said deal.

  • is this 100HZ

  • deliverable to Brisbane?

    • I got quoted $830 delivered to postcode 4504 (Narangba) this morning. Harvey Norman price matched and extended warranty at HN $99, Bing Lees was $169. Picking mine up from Harvey Norman on thursday :)
