Transferwise Borderless Account + Debit MC

Has anyone used this account? Or is there another account similar? It looks like the Debit MC might only be available to Europe at the moment, but this could be a good alternative to Citibank Plus and 28 Degrees, what are peoples thoughts on this new Transferwise Debit MC and Borderless Account?

  • Probably a bit late, but it's been great for my wife receiving payments for freelance translation. She's got the USD account details setup and to receive money is fee-free (on the TransferWise side), you only pay when exchanging to another currency, i.e. transfer as AUD to your Australian Bank account.

Instead of almost 5% of losses to Paypal (receiving and then exchanging), she is paying about 0.6% to transferwise. This is saving $100s of dollars.

Will be interesting if we ever get the MasterCard

  • +1

Looks like we're getting the Mastercard debit card. Just got an email that its now available in AU. Ordered mine

  • Guess it'll depend on how different the Transferwise rate is compared to the VISA/Mastercard rate. There are a plethora of credit/debit cards that do not charge foreign exchange fees.

However, the card is free, so I ordered mine ;)

  • I use Transferwise debit card regularly instead of Travel currency card.
