Jellyfish LED Lamp $7.49 @ Australian Geographic

180

These are actually pretty cool. I have one myself and paid the original cost.looks a lot better than the pic especially at night. looks life like also

This cool novelty lamp makes an impressive desktop gadget to liven up any office or living room. Watch in pure joy as the tiny jellyfish float among a stream of bubbles, drifting in the current as they swirl around the lamp.

The red, blue and green LED lights highlight the jellyfish making them stand out vividly with switched on at night.

  • BEWARE OF AUSTRALIAN GEOGRAPHIC !
They are a veey dishonest company of scammers.
they always sell things on sale, well beyond what actual stock they have, then they make the excuses and you have to chase up paypal claim for refund on product they sold as "in stock" , but never actually had available.
I ordered twice from this company.. Once as co-op bookshop, Once as Australian Geographic. Both times, they took money from me for items they later said they do not have stock of, and refused to fill order. They told me excuses such as "this item was popular, and we fill about 90% of our orders" "we are having issues and trying to fix our system" . Well, he had no answer, when I explained that exactly the same thing happened, the 1 time I used their company over a year ago.
It is very poor service and ethics, to willing take payment products you do not have , yet this company does it constantly. Girl even admitted on the phone to me that they fill "about 90% of our orders" , so at least 10%, they take payment for, then customers have to chase them up and wait for refund.
Both my orders from this company have ended with paypal disputes. Currently waiting for refund for the drone I purchased recently which I was told was not available, ans store said they did not have my order listed, then I was told it was available and ready for pickup, then arrived at store to find it was the display model, had been opened, NOT what I paid for, I paid for a new unused unopened product.
Manager offered no discount at all and insisted I accept the opened 'display model' "or you get nothing" he said. Manager assured me it was "pretty much new" and insisted I take it.
Went out and tried drone out for first time, it flipped and crashed repeatedly because as it turns out, item had been tampered with and there were 2 front clockwise propellers. So the store has possible flown and crashed it, then replaced propeller with the wrong 1. So the item the opened item the store manager insisted I accept, at no reduced price, turned out missing parts necessary to operate.
I diagnosed issues, ordered required parts for repair of drone. Awaiting paypal dispute atm. Appalling customer service and rude managers in store, when they do the wrong thing, and just make up excuses instead of apologizing to customers and attempting to rectify the issue.
As I explained to the manager, every other company, only sells what they actually have, ie. When something has sold out, it says on website "out of stock" . But this company seems to think it's just fine to keep selling it, and taking money for something they do not have stock of.
I really cannot believe how a company in Australia can keep on getting away with such dishonesty.

DJ’s does this every other week

      • Really ? Its weird they can get away with selling and taking money for something they don't have. Especially since it is obviously not particularly difficult to set a stock vs sales counter etc, ie. To measure how many sold, vs how many they have available, then when sold out, just show out of stock' . Even small time ebay sellers can do it.
Given how easy it is that to sell what you have in stock, then stop selling, show as not available, I'm amazed they can get away with it.
I buy many things online, and this 1 company is the only company that I have come accross that does this. Well 2 companies (who I now know are the same entity, Australian Geographic=Co-op bookshop) .
Amazon has it right, whereby they have had some items not available, but they never took payment until available, and what parts of order not available, were deducted from order before payment taken.
And I have had orders cancelled from pricing error, which I'm not happy about, but is kind of fair enough.
Never issues such as with being sold items which they simply don't have and never did have, yet still took money for.

Co-op is the same company? You learn something new every day. Thanks for the heads up.

      • Yes, co-op bookshop and Australian Geographic the same dodgy company.
I found out when I called them. press 1 for Australian Geographic, press 2 for co-op bookshop .
If I had known, I would not have bothered ording from Australian Geographic. Still stuck awaiting paypal dispute resolution for the drone they sold me (which they never had in stock, then insisted I accept the "display model" which as it turned out, was tampered with and missing/incorrect propellers) .

    • So I take it you're not happy about all this.

i havent found them to be bad service. I ordered a telescope and it came in 2 days by mail. i ordered a book and said pick up but i accidently put the wrong store and because i was so far away, the woman after ringing me, went to the local post office and sent it to me for free.
guess it depends on the store and person.
i wouldnt post something if i thought that to be the case anyway. is a cool lantern nonetheless.

    • Have you ordered any of their items that are on advertised at a great discount ?
I think that is where the issues come up.
My 1st order (about 1 yr ago) I ordered about 6 different video games on sale none delivered. Also paid a $20 sign up fee that time, just to be able to buy from their co-op bookshop site. Had to open paypal account to get refund.
2nd order (couple of weeks ago) is when I found out that co-op bookshop and Australian Geographic is same company. This is when I complained more so to them, as they made the excuse that it was a one-off and they were "working on these problems" . But I knew it had happened over a year ago, my only other order with this company.
I am sure they deliver some items, and I know you would not have posted deal, if had similar experience to mine .
I hope they continue decent service with you, be wary of anything on a good sale there though, as they do sell products they dont have in stock. Whereas it should just be marked as "sold out" "out of stock" .

  • Nice, got the jellyfish and jelly ball lamps.
