2005 Toyota Avalon - Stalling and Low Revs, Any Ideas??

G'day everyone. I just purchased a 2005 Avalon with 184,000kms.

Love the car but its been stalling.

It doesn't stall from a cold start or if it has been sitting for an hour but if I run into the shops for 15 minutes and come back to start the car the revs are just above 0 and as soon as I reverse or accelerate it stalls.

Anyone know what it could be?

Cheers

  • It is being starved of fuel or running to rich/lean

Sounds like dross on the dribbler to me. Or one of the flayrods could be out of skew, probably on the treadle.

    • Idiot. You are getting confused, his symptoms are classic for having a dodgy overhead scrawl-thrunger.

  • Presumably it's manual?

Did you have someone inspect the car before purchasing?

    It might be bad fuel.

Maybe take it in for a service and a fluid flush?

How many manual avalons do you think 60+ year olds buy?

  • Also check the battery just in case, could be on the way out, happened to me.

    fuel filter?

  • Can you rev it up slowly in park?

possibly dirty/faulty idle air control valve or dirty throttle plate.

  • Is it low on power? Could be bad Mass airflow sensor or air leak after the Mass airflow sensor.
