  • How do these compare to the he-400 non i version which i had years ago?

    • From what I remember the original HE-400 has more bass emphasis and are heavier. The HE-400i are meant to be more neutral sounding. I owned the HE-400i's at one point they are a really nice headphones, I haven't heard the HE-400.

  • Wow this is a really terrific price, if interested in this now is a good time to buy it.

  • Blue MoFi vesus These…

    • Depends on your preferences. What would you be doing in them? Music only or Gaming? or a bit of everything? What sort of sound signature do you like?
Comfort wise the HE-400i is really good, the Blue MoFi is very heavy. Check out reviews, the Blue line of headphones don't score that highly.

      • Listening music indoors and outdoors. I like crisp sound deep low end bass not the punchy bass fan.

  • Great price, but from past comments the Fidelio X2 seems to have higher regards.
You can get the X2 for similar price.

    • From memory these sound a bit better than the X2s, the downside is you need a decent amp for them (the X2s will happily run off a phone). Also the build quality is usually questionable with Hifiman gear, meanwhile the X2s feel like solid, good quality headphones.

PS: I've never seen the Hifiman in person, just did a lot of research before picking up the X2s in a previous deal.

I would second this. The resolution of the HE-400i's are great, you pick up a lot of detail where the X2s are a tad grainy or distorted (very minor). One thing that the X2 beats the HE-400i is built.

        • The X2 also beats it for soundstage depth, making it a good gaming headphone.

        • @dav3: I don't have this hifiman directly to compare but X2's soundstage, comfort, build quality is absolute top notch.

    • I've had my HE-400i for about a year now. They have been amazing. I have read X2 is better for bass. I use a free system wide EQ and I get enough bass for what I want.

  • Thanks Ops. Great find.

  • Hey OP,

They must have dropped the price because it's now USD$149.99

  • Tempting. it is open-back, right?

Great price for these headphones. Paid a bit more during the previous sale, but absolutely worth it - especially with a little EQing these sound fantastic for the price.

As per previous comments the X2 is a valid alternative. Own both, wound up using the X2s strictly for gaming as they really excel at it - great soundstage & pounding bass. The He400i is definitely a step up in terms of sound quality though, and so are my main music headphones.
