    3g network only.

    LOL
    Upvoted for effort anyway

At this price I would expect a physical keypad. Bloody cost cutting Alcatel.

Actually made a comment about this few hours back.

You should have posted it as a deal, then people would see it and you'd get the high-fives

      • The resolution spec hurt my eyes, so I didn't want to post it 😆. Definitely good deal if you prefer something minimalist like the Light Phone 2.

        • +1

Oh gawd, that Light Phone 2 page is awash with marketing drivel, e.g.

"Disconnecting is profound in a time when we have become so accustom to our existence only through hyper-connectivity."

  • No multitouch…. ouch.

Omg this phone is soooo slow - please avoid if you want to keep your sanity. Especially avoid if you have sausage fingers, as tapping on one key pad would have you mistakenly tapping many.

Passable as emergency backup phone but.

    • Really?

      What apps are you using?

I bought 2 of these near a year ago for my parents to be able to take photos and make phone calls, and it doesn't lag at all doing normal phone tasks.

      Odd you're having such difficulty.

      • +1

I've been using this phone for two years. It lags when trying to multitask or just using most apps because of the low RAM. Majority of my phone usage has been hotspotting and usb tethering for this reason.

    Good lord.
At least it's got what phones up to 100x more don't, a headphone jack!!

Pay 13 bucks more and get the Vodafone Alcatel U3, its actually a pretty decent phone. Quad A53 cores, 1GB ram, 800x480 screen for 30 bucks.

these phones are fine for primary school kids so they are contactable …. my son walks to school and i track him on his gps to know he has arrived ….no phones in class room they need to leave it in their lockers .

some people just aren’t into smart phones and mobile internet that much and just want a phone.

it amazes me how some people hunt sim deals and they don’t even have 1 gb data ….if all they need is voice and sms it might work for them, different people different needs.

      • i track him on his gps to know he has arrived

        Cool. Valentine's Day sorted.

    • Can this vodafone one be unlocked?

    • Where can I find it for $30? How much to unlock?

Edit: Just saw it at Coles. Cheers

    • I bought one of these last year, it's a barely functional piece of shit.
I used it for half an hour to activate android pay, and it should have only taken about 5 minutes.

      • +1

Ummmm…. It doesnt have NFC, why were you trying to use Android Pay on it?

  • +2

Where does it say Gps? I got one of these and it has no Gps.

  • Wow. It comes with a whopping 2GB of storage where i bet 1.5GB of that it used up by the operating system and inbuilt apps.

    • it has revolutionary feature that iphone never had

      expandable micro-SD storage

i thought we're boycotting hardly normal?

    • Pfft don't believe that, people will do anything for a bargain.

I have a backup phone that's also from the Alcatel Pixi range, and one of the most annoying aspects is: "PLATFORM OS Android 4.4.2 (KitKat)" + "Internal 4 GB".

That combo means you will run out of space in no time, even just from the installed apps updating. It's quite annoying if you want to run even a few apps on it (e.g. 7-11 fuel app, google opinions, etc). If it was Android 6 or higher, it wouldn't be so bad, as from that version onwards you can merge the internal storage with the SD card.

good for kids, oldies, spare phone, thumbs up

  • I bought one a while back. Spend an extra $25 and get something with at least 1GB of RAM, as 512MB is too little for WhatsApp etc. Still it amazes me how cheap these are now, similar in specs to the iPhone 3GS, which sold for $899 10 years ago.

I guess everyone has forgiven Harvey Norman. That's the Australian way.

This is my teenage son's punishment phone (he gets it when he gives us lip, doesn't do what he's told to do etc). It's rubbish. He hates it (good). Only 17 bucks though

    • +2

LOL! I keep mine as a backup spare (e.g. selling stuff on gumtree, or use it when skiing and don't really care if I have a stack and land on it and crack the screen). But it is a frustratingly painful phone to use, cracks me up that using it would be a good punishment for a teenager!

    • Photo editor ? lol like specialise in converting HD pics to pixelated 8bit?
    • Ascii art editor. Chip tune player.

  • wow! move over iPhone X. throw away your Xiaomi Mi 8, flush that Samsung Note 8 down the toilet.

This phone should be the one going down the toilet. But to do the right thing, better to recycle it.

I think the Op might have a sense of humour.

  • I'd avoid this phone purely because Harvey Norman is selling it.

    • Yeah good on ya.

  • A true ozbargainer's phone

Should come flashed with ozbargain app.

  • Buy a Xiaomi Redmi 4x for $100, much better phone and cheap as dirt.
