  • Nice, just got the email too. Love me an 8bit burger

  • when does the 8BITBURG code expire?

    • When 200 people have applied it to their account.

      • 200 uses is only for 8BIT10.

        • Where did 200 come from? Your post says 500

        • @scanuck:

Sorry 500. Too many numbers and codes flying around.

        • @neil: 8BITBURG has unlimited redemptions but one per person.

    • Usually new user codes last a long time and don't have limits.

      • thanks. hopefully it will still be around for lunch next week :)

        • If you're worried just add the code now. The existing one works until August 31 so I expect the new code to be the same or longer.

        • you need to enter the code into the app now, and it gets saved on your account. It will show you an expiry date once its saved. Don't wait…

        • So if you can add the code - you can use until August 31?

        • -1

Correct, new user launch offers have unlimited redemptions and usually last for 3 months from release, because we want everyone in Australia to try our platform, and have an amazing experience earning food by eating food.

  • Not letting me select the Sydney store?

    • For 8BIT10? Wonder if the code is only for the Melbourne stores? 8BITBURG should work in Sydney as per their blog post, so would have thought the same for 8BIT10.

      • I can't select the Sydney store with 8BITBURG.

        • Are you adding the code in Profile - Add Promo Code or some other method?

        • @neil: 8BITBURG I added it from my wallet but have now re-added from profile. Both same thing. Only available at 3 venues which is Melb locations.

        • @jazattack:

Not sure, have contacted them for a response.

        • @neil: Cheers, to save them responding to multiple people, do you mind replying to this letting me know how you go? cheers

        • @jazattack:

This is what they just sent me:

Hi there, sorry for the confusion. I can confirm that the code will also be accepted at Darling Square Sydney outlet. We will update the info in the app to also mention the Sydney the branch.
          Thanks for letting us know.

Can you close the app and check again to see if it is working?

        • @neil:

Still only the 3 Melbourne venues showing under the promo code for me.

        • @konakona:

Hmm, ok. I've reported it back to them and asked for the rep to come on here. I'm just the messenger. :)

        • @neil: Sorry everyone, this is a new problem related to our deeplinking tech. All 8bit venues are on, but the link is automatically sending you to the Melbourne branch.

You will need to go to your app's settings and set location back to Sydney if living there.

        • @liventeam: it always was set to Sydney, still doesn't show though.

        • @jazattack:

Another person from Liven sent me a message:

Hi there, we are experiencing a rare bug wherein opening the venue from the promo code section redirects you to the Melbourne branches, we apologise for this and we are already looking into fixing this. For the meantime, you can simply look for the 8Bit Darling Square from the merchant's list on your app. As long as the code is showing ACTIVE, it is good to go.

Don't think we'll get any more replies to Monday.

        • @neil: Yea, I think I'll be able to use it. I just navigate to the store, and there is an option there that says use coupon or something. Thanks anyway mate.

  • I'm finding with all these Liven codes, that when it says new users only, it needs to be a brand new account. So basically you can only use new user codes for any store once. Or am I doing it wrong?

    • All codes are one time use only.

      • Frustrating this is though, after adding the 8BITBURG, which I can no longer use because it's Melbourne stores only, I can't add a referral code because I'm not longer a new user?

        • No, you can't add a referral code. It's either one or the other but they should sort you out especially as it's advertised on their site.

        • -4

You have to be a new user to redeem a new user credit. We often run campaigns with our partners when they launch with our platform to get more people trying Liven.

Both of these codes are for both Melbourne and Sydney. You can refer members for your entire lifespan as a Liven user, and earn Liven Cash every single time you spend at any of our thousand partner merchants, but this is not a charity operation, you can't have everything for free on a platform that is already very beneficial to you as a customer.

        • @liventeam: Chill out, no one said it was a charity. All I said is that if I can't use the new user burger code, which I can't because it still shows 3 venues all in Melbourne, then I should be able to use the 10 off 20

  • +1

Love the Liven promos. 8bit is very overrated though IMO - many other much better burger joints around, but the promo makes it OK.

    • +1

Which burger joints in Sydney do you recommend over 8Bit?

      • I probably should have mentioned that I’m in Melbourne 😄

        • +1

Which Melbourne ones then? I've tried a lot (not them all) and rated 8bit up the top of the list, over these ones I've been to (in order of preference)

          trailer park
          easeys
          royal stacks
          huxta
          mr burger
          charlie & co
          burger project (ugh)

yet to try YOMG or Bad Boy..

        • @WillisAU: Demazzi Stone Grill

        • +1

@WillisAU: try Betty's Burger. I'd say its pretty close to shake shack

        • @allan37825: Those are pretty good, but 8bit is better 😎 - Still, keep your eyes on our updates and maybe we'll have some good news for you.

  • +5

If you are new user, you'd better use refer a friend code. That way you and you mate or ozbargain mate will both get $10.

It is $20 in total and it can be used at any shop without any restriction or have to be used at specific shop. These promo code is in fact a smart way for them to save money instead of having to give out $20 of refer friend bonus.

This is also kind of referral code so once you use this code you missed out on refer-a-friend bonus. Be smart and don't get fooled by this "free" marketing trick.

    • A referral code only gives you $10 off, this gives you $11.50 off. So if you are planning to eat at 8 Bit then use this, if you plan to use Liven elsewhere then the $10 referral credit is better.

      • +1

yeah but his point is that two people get $10 each, so $20 total. Depends if you know anyone with liven, but i'd happily spend the $1.50 to save a mate $10.

        • -1

How are you saving a mate $10? Your mate is losing out on an extra $1.50 while you are gaining $10. LOL.

        • @neil:

How are you saving a mate $10?

hmmmm, because Liven give existing users a $10 credit when their referrals sign up and use Liven

        • @WillisAU:

8BITBURG gives $11.50 off vs. referral code which gives $10 off. Your friend is losing out on $1.50..if they are going to use it at 8 Bit and want a cheeseburger. Otherwise if they are using it elsewhere, $10 referral makes more sense.

        • @neil:

ok, if your friend uses the referral code, they get $10, and you get $10. Total = $20. or your friend can use the free burger code, and then they are ineligible for the referral code, and you dont get anything. Making sense yet?

        • @WillisAU:

          You wrote

but i'd happily spend the $1.50 to save a mate $10

But you could have saved a mate, $11.50. You have gained yourself $10 which is fine but your friend could have been $1.50 richer, all things equal.

If you argument is that your friend is better off, then they are not. If your argument is, you are better off then agree.

I think perhaps what you are trying to say maybe is that friend gets $10, you get $10, and you pay the friend $1.50 to compensate. So friend saves $11.50, you save $8.50. Right?

        • @willisau I get exactly what you mean (Y).

        • @neil:
Ok, so we both understand how it works, just have a different philosophy on the situation. Maybe it's not the OzBargain spirit but I wouldn't ask for $1.50 from a mate, or think that they would ask for it either….

        • Marketing trick? Who are we tricking, ourselves? The user referral budget comes from the same place as the new user credit. If you refer, then your friends and yourself get credit, if nobody refers you, you're likely to find out about Liven via our new user ads and offers. We're happy with both happening.

You can refer for your entire lifespan as a Liven user, and referral codes do save up to be used on successive transaction. We made this system to give the users the best experience possible, and it's disheartening to see members of the community having a go at us for doing it.

        • @liventeam:

Can you settle our pub debate above? :)

        • @neil: Referring is the better move for sure, share the love and reap the rewards. If you go out together, you can go big on the shared sides and split the costs. An extra $1.50 to not help a friend out is no fun and poor form. But, it's easier to get your friends on board when they can see the food they're getting. Just some thoughts 😉

        • @neil:
You were at the pub this whole time? Now I feel jibbed sitting here with a beverage:)

        • @WillisAU:
          *without…:

  • I need new mobile phone

    • For $11.5?

      • +2

        you must be new here?

        • -5

Scamming will score you a lifetime ban (cool!)

        • Not new, but you're not doing maths right.

  • existing user offer has expired

    • Cheers, have marked expired.

  • Sign up reuires a credit card…. hmmm.

Also, please update on Darling Quater 8bit- whether the code is working there

    • Does work there,

Also, we're a payment network with universal rewards network. If you want to eat for free, you gotta be prepared to try using the app. Eating at 8bit will earn you 20% of whatever you spend back as Liven Cash, our universal dining currency!

And we're not here to scam anyone, we're a registered company and have been operating for a few years now with over 1000 merchant partners on our system.

  • Hi,

I also can’t get it to work at Darling harbour. I’m at the store now. I’ve tried deleting the app, creating another user and nothing works. It always lists the coupon as only for the Melbourne stores. My location is set to Sydney, the app says that my nearest store is the one in Sydney. I tried setting it temporarily to Melbourne and back to Sydney again, that didn’t help either. Definatley wouldn’t recommend making the trip to darlingharbour until a user confirms it works for them in Sydney.

    Good luck!

    • Well, that's frustrating. I live near the Sydney 8-bit store, and was intending on giving Liven & 8-bit a go, but looks like nobody can get it to work in Sydney with the codes, and now one of the codes has run out. I'll sit this one out, hopefully they'll do it again some time without these problems.

  • its not working at darling harbour.
    i installed it
but on the app it doesnt listed the darling harbour venue, it only list the melbourne venue.
Already tried to close and re-open app

Went to the Footscray store tonight. While queuing up to order, we were informed by another customer that the store was having problem with accepting Liven payment. Something about the mobile phone they use to accept payment is having problem.

Is this 8Bit way of avoid honouring the Liven offer?

    • They use an ipad. Happens sometimes, I think it's a legit problem. e.g. One place broke their charger and couldn't charge, another place said they don't have wifi (and so it didn't work??), and another forgot to charge. - All those are merchant problems though, not liven.

      • +1

Also went Footscray, girl at register didn't know how to use Liven and then one of the guys behind the counter said "it's not working today", hopeless. Yet they had Liven advertising in store.

  • Hi Store Rep, i have an existing liven account but I have not used it yet. Do qualify as a "new user"?

    • Yep, new user means never transacted.

  • Went to Swanston St and worked fine. Got the $10 off plus 20% Liven Cash and used all my existing Liven Cash for a fairly cheap dinner.

    • Hold on to that Liven Cash, It's about to be pretty valuable!

      • +1

Been reading about it and looks very interesting.

The original idea of cryptocurrency (like BTC) as a universal borderless currency was a great idea but never really caught on. Would be great to pay via Liven at various places around the world although currency conversion fees have dropped with credit/debit cards in the past few years. Was tried in a few sandwich shops in Melbourne 4 years ago. That $7.50 BTC sandwich is now worth $106! Interesting space to be in.

  • Anyone else getting an error when they sign up: "Please use existing account previously used on this device" ?
How do they even know this?
I have signed up for liven before but never used it, now they're blocking me from creating a new account.

    • -2

Use the original account or contact our customer support. This is blocked by our platform to prevent people taking advantage of new user credit.

  • Works for me at Darling Square with code 8BIT10. $20 burger and fries for $6. Thanks Liven!

  • Burgers are very salty. Not recommended.

  • Code doesn't work with Sydney. downvote for app bug.

    —From an app developer

  • I can confirm 8BITBURG worked at Sydney venue, despite the code saying it's Melbourne only and at the Sydney venue page it says NO promo applied, I can confirm when I paid it deducted $12 from my total payment as credit. Woohoo 🎉
