What Is The Best Option for Mopping ?

I am after a mop (and probably a mop bucket, though it isn't a deal breaker). Currently the Vielda mop wringer and bucket and the mop are on a 40% off sale in Woolies. But I wanted to know what the guys here use for mopping.

I live in a usual 2br unit with the usual tiles. I am tired of buying the Sabco, Oates and the likes of mops and they are all pretty average. After a first few uses, they all start leaving streaks and lint on the floor. None of them are good enough to scrub stuck cereal on the floor. We had the Philips steam mop and that thing started leaving streaks after a while too. I like clean floor.

What is a good mop and a mop bucket that you guys recommend ? I am happy to pay up to $70 - $100 for a really good mop system.

Cheers,

Sounds like you need a dog mop combination dog eats stuff dropped on floor then use mop..I quite like the vielda with the foot spinner but I’m not that fussy to notice streaks.

    hands and knees

    • Best way to clean the floor, and most energy required haha

A real OzBargainer would see stuck cereal on the floor and think

    "FREE BREAKFAST!"

    • After a few formalities, you'd be welcome once a week to get free breakfast at my place. Of course, that depends on whether you are a real OzB ?

i use the Sabco Super Swish Spray mop, which I bought on sale a few months ago from Bunnnigs for $20ish. My whole house is real hardwood floors, and it does an excellent job

    • i use the same on hardwood floors, makes cleaning alot easier.

    • Thanks. This looks like a very good option.

  • Get a baby/infant before it can walk.

    • Hell NO, they drop far more shit than they pickup.

  • I use a kitchen or bathroom spray cleaner, a roll of paper towel, and do each 30cm square bathroom tile separately on my hands and knees.

    I vacuum first.

    • Sure. For me, that'd a very demanding way of cleaning up.

  • Robot floor scrubber like the Scooba. It's easier than doing 365 mops a year or having to put up with stains on the floor.

The Scooba is like a 4th gen Roomba. It doesn't mop. I do have a Neato D80 though so it vacuums most of the house everyday.

      • the scooba does mop.

        • Indeed. Thanks.

  • Bath towels. One for wet and few for drying

  • I agree on the scooba. It can both mop/vacuum and can work with hardwood floors as well. I found these details about it, might be worth looking in to. I just find it a bit costly though, especially that we already have a vacuum robot.
