  • Anyone tried these?

I wouldn't expect them to product results as good as an oil based deep fryer, but interested to know how things turn out.

Don't trust those noname informercial ones, but perhaps there is some relevance in their claims, if a big name like Philips is now making them.

    • I've looked at the big and small Philips models at TGG in person and thought about it. In the end couldn't justify the $2xx price tag for the small one let alone $3xxish on the larger model. Picked up a kitchen chef model a little while ago (i.e. generic) that I saw here on ozb for $85 delivered. It gets used a fair bit and so far have been quite happy with it.

      I hear it's a fad.

      Though I can't doubt it's healthiness.

The Q&A for a similar product on Amazon US suggest it’s more like a convection oven but better in some aspects https://www.amazon.com/ask/questions/Tx2F8TU8XQXH1PT/

    • I have one but the XXL one. It's okay
When it comes down to it can it replace a deep fryer? no.

Think of it more like an oven. But the good part is it doesn't need heat up time and is easy to clean

I own a phillips airfryer. I love it for frozen chips from coles. Just add a little olive oil and throw on some spices. Beautiful, prefer it over the oven any day.

Still seems pretty expensive considering many people just got the Philips Air Fryer HD9216/81 for $126.40 from this deal- https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/382848

    • Sad I missed that one. Looks like the seller has put the price up on those now. Bummer.

These sell for $299 at costco

  • I've got the Kmart one. Better than convection oven; not as good as deep fryer. If you don't think you'll get too much use out of this i'd suggest go Kmart first. Costs about $80-90.

  • I have this model. This is my 2nd airfryer. Its amazing. Cooks chips etc absolutely brilliantly.

Still expensive previous price was $255 at myer and after cashback it was around $200.
