Computer Upgrade - CPU/Mobo/Ram Choice

Hi,

I have been researching upgrading my PC and are looking to upgrade my mobo, ram and cpu. From looking around it appears a 2600 / b350/ 16gb 3200mhz seems to fit together well into my budget.PC mostly spent multitasking with multiple screens/windows and some PC gaming

My first question is, is there a price point to which I should be looking at a 2600x? or stick with a 2600?

I am having trouble deciding on a mobo. There appears to be many around the same price -
Asus b350 plus
Asus Rog B350-f
Gigabyte GA-AB350 Gaming
MSI B350 Mate
MSI B350 tomahawk

Is there one in particular I should be looking at from the above?

I also have a question regarding ram and compatibility - Is there actually a performance/compatibility difference between different models - eg. There is G Skill Ripjaws, Trident Z and Trident RGB all in 2x 8gb 3200mhz? Will Ripjaws (the cheapest of the bunch) perform the same as the Trident? Is there any other recommended Ram models?

  • If you live in WA or don't mind waiting on delivery grab a ex demo mobo

I got one and it works fine, most of the time they have never been used and have just lost the box.
Regarding the 2600/2600x I read that it's better to grab a 2600 and get a aftermarket cpu and overclock the living crap out of (safely of course).
Usually the 2600 is around $239-$249 either of those prices or anything below is worth it IMO.
Now ram I'm fairly sure any ram with good timings is good so anything C16 or below at 3200mhz would be incredibly fast and you can then set custom timings and make it Run even faster.

  • I use the following as a starting point for research:

Then I check Amazon US / Newegg for reviews.
