  • Nice phone. Only issue is that this is the single SIM model with less memory than what is available from overseas.

Only issue is that this is the single SIM model

You say that as if everyone needs/wants a dual-sim phone.

        more memory might be desired…

        • Perhaps, but I feel that especially with smartphones, there's an aspect of diminishing returns when it comes to memory, depending on the manufacturer and how well-optimized the operating system is of course.

@Lorindor: and that point with Android is 4GB at the moment. 3GB is barely enough to run 8.1 and general app usage.

          @Lukian:

3GB is barely enough to run 8.1 and general app usage.

With an un-optimized bloated version of Android, I would agree, but considering this phone is an Android One phone, I'd say 3GB is enough.

      • My Android TB box is 2GB and runs Android 8 and the media player software ….the phone downloaded Android 8 and it was just on 1 GB including all the apps … sure might be compressed until installed but then I don't load most the apps that come as std to save battery.

think people need to look at the size of the apps (MB), size of the OS (MB) and work with facts not emotions to see how much memory they actually need and use …. how much memory does Android 8, Facebook, Ebay, Outlook, Chrome and Gmail if loaded uses up ?

nice thing is that it’s HN so australian supplier, warranty and charger ….. lots of people are only on one sim ….

in holding out for a deal on the nokia 7 plus ….just want the bigger screen.

Seems Chinese release of the 7plus is 6/64, rest of the work is 4/64, but the Chinese one needs to be reflashed before it will take Global android One …..

        • They are talking about RAM usage, not storage space.

There is Amex $50 back on $350 purchase for registered persons

  • White one is $399

  • How would this compare to an S7? My SO is looking for a phone she can just buy locally. The S7 is about $450?

    • +4

much better than s7, this is android one so software updates come from google not samsung when they feel like it, might also be on the android p beta …….

nokia do hardware and have generic generic for android and just use android one …..

i’ve had a gut full of samsung, lg, zte, xiaomi etc stuffing users around with their own versions of android and deciding when to release, etc .

will only buy android one supported versions of their phones in the future ….

  • JB Hi-Fi have what appears to be the same phone for $399.

  • most expensive "deal" ever for this phone!?

  • FOG.

  • 64/4gb version (grey import) is $320 from catch
    https://www.catch.com.au/product/nokia-6-2018-4gb-64gb-black…

    • Since it is grey import model it should be dual sim model yes?

  • might want to use specifics eg is it ta-1068 or different model ……using specific model numbers stops confusion ……

  • The nokia x6 costs $272aud~ish in china. Not that any of us can get our hands on it near that price.

There's no way I would consider supporting these cheap yet expensive half-assed nokia phones. They're just trying to use their brand as a way to get money without delivering a decent product. It's 8-Sirocco or x6, or GTFO for me.

    • they are definitely using the nokia brand as an edge , but the nice thing is that they have gone android one , so you are less dependent on them for software than most other manufacturers. xiaomi are heading more to android one , has no band 28 and their phablet is still very pricey and no australian support ( need to,import yourself) .

sharp doesn’t make phones either …..it’s just a brand now , problem is they aren’t android one so software support could ban issue.

the future i see buy a handset with the hardware features you want, and with android one let google take care of .the software and playstore for apps outside of what comes with the OS.

most nokia’s are android one, treble compliant, and some are on beta android P.

i’m hanging out for a cheap 7 plus, these things a cheap are cheap in china but only globally released this year so we haven’t had the offers from china i would have been expecting .

we just seem to be getting the same xiaomi deals on a daily basis, so no android one, or no nfc or no band 28 unless it’s $500+ from xiaomi.

  • Was $349 from JB-Hifi a couple of weeks ago when they had 15% Off Nokia phones.
Hold on a get a better deal!

    • $348 at Officeworks ATM!

Couldn't see anything about Android One in the description but if you value dual sim more than Android One and local stock this might be worth checking out.
