can i put a vodafone sim in it & use it or is it locked?

    • +1

It is locked but can be unlocked for a few bucks on ebay have done myself without issue

      • I was going to buy the vodafone one today at Coles for $39.

        Is that one better?

        • +1

You need to check that the Telstra modem has the bands that the Vodafone sim requires. If the bands don't correlate, the sim either won't work or you will get weaker bands (and speed) than what the Voda sim promises.

To avoid having to figure out which bands are in use by vodafone in the areas you want to use this and then comparing that to what this modem is capable of, just buy the vodafone one. It's guaranteed to work wherever there is a Vodafone signal. I'm currently using an optus sim in a vodafone modem, but it's out of luck more than good planning. If I move to a different area, the thing will probably drop out.

      • @hrcdan, which ebay store did you use?
I used one, they gave me algo V2 code and Algo V3 code, I entered them one by one, but it gave verification fail message.

  • Sorry I can't see a reference to the 4Gx modem. As far as I know, these have been recalled and I've been trying to buy one for the last 2 weeks.

  • Boost or Belong network? Thanks

    • +2

Boost is full coverage, belong is not I believe. I went boost but I should have waited for this at 15gb for $15 rather than the $10 for 5gb. Oh well..

  • The Boost Starter Kits seem to be a semi-permanent deal that is available online direct from Boost, at Cole and at Woolworths. It also applies to the $30 Kit for $10.
