I feel like for the features you would need in a car, your phone will do the same thing.

All you need is a mount for your phone.

    • Or a car/headunit with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto

  • I wish this existed for Google, without having to buy a new car that has Android Auto.

    • Buy a head unit with Android Auto?

      • Installation is not so easy nowadays…. buying a custom fascia alone costs a fortune.

    • Turn on voice control.

    • Use your android phone and android auto. It is standalone now - does not require a head unit. If you want easier access buy a remote button and set it to trigger the voice assistant although mine works perfectly fine when I use the OK Google command.

      • If you want easier access buy a remote button

I didn't even know these were a thing, thank you!

Any tip on were to pick one up? Amazon has one for ~$80, and eBay isn't much better (I'm searching for "Android remote command").

  • I don’t understand the purpose, considering most of our phones have inbuilt Siri or google equivalent in built - so it can do the same thing?

    • It's so Amazon can know all the things about you, even when you are in your car.

    • But you can't touch your phone while driving. My phone is usually in my pocket, which means I can't change music by voice command.

        • That works as long as you have the assistant configured to always listen, whether the phone is in standby or not. I don't want that. Also, I have one of those air vent holders, and it does not fit well in my car. I would also be worried about accidentally leaving my phone in my car.

          nope just launch Android Auto.

I would also be worried about accidentally leaving my phone in my car.

Well for $115 you can have this

          What he said ^ :)
I've got Android Auto set to automatically launch when it connects to my car's bluetooth

    “Alexa indicate right.”

    “Alexa slow down to 60.”

“Alexa, I had an accident and was uninsured. What should I do? Create a post on OzBargain.”

    • See Google assistant would detect you're having an accident and take out comprehensive car insurance with $0 excess, them cancel it after your claim was processed.

Siri would say “I don’t understand.”

          Here's what I found on the internet for "I don't understand"….

Kind of superfluous for most people with a recent smartphone. Google assistant is rated better in the vast majority of tests and android auto is available on androind phones standalone now for zero cost.

    • Google has been listening to its users’ conversations for a lot longer, so that’s understandable…

      • But now you can pay >$100 to have Amazon listen as well!

  • Does this thing still need mobile phone paired to work?
