Usual discount is $100 on these and includes same-day delivery in most cities. A very high quality mattress and good balance between being firm and soft. You can try them out in most Myer's and they offer a 120 day trial period

Does anyone have a koala mattress? If so, are they good? Are they similar to tempur mattresses?
Got them one month ago, so far so good. Not sure how long does last tho.
We have had ours almost 2 years.
Still as comfy as the day we got it :)
Of the "mattress in a box" companies Koala is by far the best :)
you get a 120 day trial, if you are in market for a new mattress give them a go :)How are they the best of the "mattress in a box" companies?
Quality overall
After sales service.
Aussie based and manufactured
Supports wildlife@jimbobaus: So you've tried every other competitor?
@Pikaloo:
Before we settled on the koala we had 4 different ones that all had trials. We returned them for various reasons. So I am expressing an opinion based on my personal experiences. The koala quality is far superior to the others ones I tried.@jimbobaus:
May I ask if Eva was among those you tried? Also, can you offer any advice please from your experience as to which mattresses sleep hot?@jimbobaus: and we still don't know what you tried. Could've been aldi and big w mattresses in a box for all we know.
Ecosa: stitching was clearly poorly done. Comfort was 6/10 the mattress had a weird smell and was very very hot to sleep on. Kept it for 35 nights roughy.
Onebed: very lumpy for a foam mattress and again seemed to be overly hot To sleep on. 5/10 kept it for around 40 nights.
Ergoflex: worst of the bunch. Comfort was 1/10. Lumpy as all F. Like sleeping on a furnace. Returned after 4 sleeps.
Sleeping duck : was not to bad, very similar to koala but I found the foam material to be a bit too soft for my liking. Comfort was 8/10 and only due to softness. I prefer a bit firmer which is why we ended up loving the Koala.
@Pikaloo:
Lol
Good luck getting an answer on this, 99% of the time people will just recommend the one brand they purchased without trying any others. Choice has some tests but they only actually compared about 5 models and the ratings were all pretty close.
I think the most similar to Tempur is ergoflex which is a fairly firm memory foam. 7cm which is a little thin if you’re a side sleeper, hip touches the lower layer. 9-10cm would be good.
Got an ergoflex in the spare room it’s good.
Seconded the ergo flex
Have it for the past 3years been good with my back.
However your body need to adjust to it. The first couple days wasn't the best as it's quite firm to what I used to sleep on.

It looks like their base prices have gone up? I’m in need of a Queen size mattress, which has been $900 the last few times Koala Mattress deals have been posted, but is now $1000 after the $150 discount.
You are right.
Last year the base price for the Queen was $950.
Now it is $1,150.They have increased the price of their mattresses by 21% over the past year. Thats pretty steep!
Can’t sleep knowing that!
No thanks Koala - maybe if they had a sale where they resorted to their prices from last year and included the voucher. I hope there is a rep reading this…
They’ve nailed the market. No motivation for them to do it.
Yea I asked Koala regarding price increase, they basically said that the bed is new model from before & cost associated is higher.
But the real answer: as they have again market share & are well known brand, they can increase price to make more profit.
Yep. Ordered a king in Feburary and with the $150 off it was $1050.
Ended up returning it and got a real mattress, though.
The annoying thing is they're thinner than a standard mattress so your fitted sheet doesn't really work properly.
Try having a mattress thicker than a fitted sheet and not being able to buy fitted sheets to go on it…
ZZZ?
We have just moved to the Koala from a traditional pillow top mattress. We had to find particularly deep sheets (50cm iirc) to fit the pillow top mattress and even then they would occasionally pop off. Now with the Koala those sheets don't entirely fit properly of course but they're not going anywhere.
Only had a few nights so far on the Koala but is good so far. Is first of the lot that we've tried so don't have experience on the others to compare to.
Yeah I was going to say Valentine’s Day special with $150 off the single was only $600…
They claim the change in design and materials justifies the 20% price hike. I respond by no longer putting money aside each for one each week.
For $1000 for a Queen you should really take the time to look at some other mattresses and not limit yourself to a mattress-in-a-box.
I paid $200 for the Aldi double mattress in a box ($250 for queen) as a spare bed.
Sure, you get the 120 night (or whatever it is) trial, but how is that comparing it to all of the other options that are available at the same, or cheaper, price points?
Our King mattress we got from BedWorks.com.au and was somewhere in the $1000-1500 range (this was a few years ago now).
Sorting their website by price for Queen size, you have over a dozen different options under $1000:
https://www.bedworks.com.au/227-queen-mattresses?orderby=pri…I don't mean this post to sound like an ad, but the whole mattress-in-a-box thing only makes sense for me if you are doing it just to get a bargain price. And of course almost ANY new mattress is going to pass a 120-night trial as you are only really comparing it against your old crappy 20 year old one.
I got a OneBed mattress because it was well-ranked with Choice.
At the moment they have all mattress sizes for the price of a single ($750).
I was not expecting much originally and kept my spring-mattress believing I would have to return the OneBed during the trial.
In the end, I am happy with my mattress and even planing on buying one of their mattresses for each bedroom in the house.
Sleeping Duck or Koala?
Looking at a firm mattress.
Probably doesn't matter if it's made of either animal. They both are probably comfortable!
Try Symbol or Prince mattress. Reasonably priced and very firm. I have Symbol one from 9 years ago. Still very firm and comfortable.
I have returned a koala mattress and the process was painless. They just asked that I fold the mattress in half and tie it with some string. Refund was issued on the day of collection. Don't hesitate to try these out if you are on the fence.
However, while I purchased prior to the change in design, I found that the foam was simply too hot for summer - the mattress really traps heat. I replaced with an Aldi mattress in a box and strongly recommend that for guest rooms, rentals where you aren't planning to stay long etc. The Aldi mattresses are ~70% cheaper, and the spring design does not get as hot as much as these foam mattresses. If you are looking for something more permanent, spend a bit more on a Sealy/Sleepmaker from David Jones during the 50% off sales and use discounted gift cards.
I got my queen koala for $800 in April 2017. I'm still not sure if I like it. I've put a think mattress topper on which has softened it up, this has the added effect of making cooler in summer, and warmer in winter. Its actually very snug with a thick topper. also the topper makes the fitted sheet nice and stretched.
The Koala definitely takes a bit of getting used to.We are currently trialling the Tontine miab (mattress in a box). Got it in the current 50% and off sale https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/383620
Wasn't very impressed initially but after a couple of weeks it is OK. Best bit is you don't disturb your partner moving around.
The $100 is always available.
They're doing $150 off at the moment using "EOFY" as a code.
