Coolant Disposal in Sydney area

Did a coolant flush a while ago. I stored the old coolants in bottles. Need to throw them away. Where abouts around Sydney takes them? Supercheap Auto doesn't take them, they only take oils.

  • Call your local transfer station. Even if they don't take chemical waste, they may point you in the right direction.

If that doesn't work, call EPA. They'll appreciate your endevour to do the right thing.

  • PlanetArk actually has a website for finding drop-off centres for chemicals and everything else: https://recyclingnearyou.com.au

ethylene glycol is biodegradable and I have read nothing that says it is not safe to dispose of into the waste water system

Just add lemonade for cheap green coolade

  • go to your local council website. they should tell you where to take your chemical waste (sometimes its printed on the red/yellow bin calendars that u download)

  • Had exact same thing a year ago as OP, used cleanout event as local council didnt offer free disposal, just had to wait couple months for closer location. Just be aware there is long line but people running it are organized and line moves pretty quickly

  • Pour it over weeds or in the back corner of the garden. Keep the pets and kiddies away from it for a bit.
