Hey All, Found this deal if anyone is interested in Lenses. This is an awesome macro lens. Highly recommended by many Pro's. They do offer the code for other lenses as well. Just need to check their eBay website. Also, they offer 3-year Australian warranty on Tokina lenses and the delivery is super fast too.

  • thanks!

  • Great deal. Bought a sigma 50-100 for about $1000 from them during the recent 25% off ebay sale. Next day delivery and stock appears to have come from brick and mortar store CR Kennedy.

    • How do you feel about the lens now you've got it?
I'm torn between funding one or saving a bit more for a nikon 70-200 fl

Not OP, but ill give my $0.02, it depends on your body. For crop sensor the 50-100 is more than a stop faster than the Nikon (shallower DOF) but doesn't go as tele and lacks VR (although the faster aperture somewhat offsets this). if you see yourself upgrading to a full frame in future then maybe the 70-200 is worth getting. For a crop body I don't think the 4x price tag is really worth it unless you absolutely need the length/VR.

        • Thanks for you insights

@Rifraf: The pics are amazing. Sharpe and bright. But just the as user above mentioned this lens is only for crop sensor cameras. It will work with full frame but you will get a cropped image. Which doesn't really matter if it's macro. But for portraits, it will not look that great. The sigma is a better Full frame lens with IS availability. This is a good deal as well. I would have gone for it if I had the extra $$$.

        • You're making a good point. But for $359 this will be a bargain for a crop sensor camera user.

        • @rewbay:

So the Tokina doesn't have IS?

        • @rewbay:

Thanks but I was asking about the posters 50-100 sigma.

My mistake for not being clearer.

          For macro, I invested in a Nikon 200mm f4.

I'm less sure about the Sigma 50-100 f1.8 short focal length/weight for my usage compared to a 70-200.

Gave you a "+" tick for the suggestion

        • @rewbay:

          Isn't it this lens?

          https://kenrockwell.com/tokina/100mm-f28.htm

Looks like an FX lens and thus a bargain for both.

I tried to delete this post as it ended up not where I intended it and appears somewhat confusing.

I'm using it on a GH5 with a speedbooster and own its little brother, the 18-35, so it made sense for my setup. Having played with it for a couple of days now, it feels great in the hands and appears to have great build quality. This thing is a beast for portrait work, the super creamy bokeh is a big plus. Like Vaiels mentioned, if you're considering going full frame then the 70-200 is a great choice as you're future proof.

        • Food for thought - thanks

    • I have tried the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro, at that time I still had an old 350D, and I found it amazing, I wander how it compares to this

  • Wow! Great price. From memory, I paid almost double 2 years ago for Aus stock.
