    Try again.

Recently bought the Beoplay H9i for about A$580, but then saw the Aedle VK-X on Indiegogo for about A$530. Problem is not many decent reviews, so they're a bit of an unknown quantity.

    • Wow those vk-x's look incredible. All the stats in handmade lambswool and aluminium. Unfortunately I haven't won the lottery yet.

    • You say indiegogo like its a reliable thing.

    • Vk-x on… Indiegogo…

There's so many active noise cancelling headphones on the market and only two manufacturers worth looking at, Bose and Sony (at least on some of their kit it rivals Bose).

The Qc35s might not have the best sound, but they are number one or two on active noise cancellation (it fights the Sony equivalent).

Your vk-xs might be made of gold and virgin kisses, but that ANC going to sound like ass unless they talk about whose tech they're putting in it.

And if the ANC is crap, the audio quality is going to take a nose dive when it's on. So remind me why you paid twice as much?

      • Yes, that’s kinda what I thought. The others might be ok, but how would you know? At least I found reviews of the Beoplay. Sounds like they’re good and a removable battery. The Aedle were just too much of a gamble, though I did read a comment somewhere they’d take them back if not satisfied. I emailed asking for confirmation of that, but not heard back yet (only been a day or so).

  • Just for the record - got the Beoplay H9i and was not impressed, so back they go. Uncomfortable (itchy around ears, band kept slipping), none of the touch controls except play/pause worked. Sound was not great and even worse with and on, which didn't work all that we'll anyway. Android app couldn't find them.

BTW - video pro tried to charge me a restocking fee despite the fact they were repacked perfectly. The only thing is the shrink wrap was opened. Also they didn't actually work and it's against ebay policy!
